Can only just make people out on the tv and playing xbox on it is beyond annoying.

So after the advice I.got on here a fair few months ago I'm going for a Samsung around 32" maybe bigger now that her indoors is not coming with me to but it ;) ,

Budget £300.oo should get something for that hopefully and I want it today so not going down the whole internet Bargin route.

I picked up a nearly new Samsung 32" off eBay with warranty & box for £150 about 2 year ago :) at the time the same TV in Currys was about £500~600!

When I come to move out its going on the wall in the garage & ill be back on eBay on the hunt for a similiar one :)

Should easily get a 32" for £300, get the biggest you can afford though or you will want to change it in 6 months. Can't go wrong with samsung either.

Samsung make about 75% of the solid state panels sold in the world, so I doubt its the panel at fault ;)

My samsung is ruined but its been on nearly 8 hrs a day since I picked it up 5 years ago and channels with the red button BS have only recently turned down the contrast so I have stuff etched in the corners lol. I dont mind as 5 years is a good change cycle :)

I'd not go above 37" in that room Mr J otherwise you'll look like a scumbag with a massive TV in a tiny room lol.

I've just recently got myself a 43" Samsung plasma from comet, £349 and it's ace, two HDMI's, one scart, optical audio out, USB input, built in freeview, can't beat it IMO :d

There bazillions of plugs an stuff on the back of mine too. Like a boss I wall mounted on a slim line bracket & cant get acess to none of them. Had to de mount it to plug in my pc :(

Probably not my best idea to date...

Oooh AND Ive got an app on my phone so I can use phone to operate TV. Had hours of fun in Comet just before christmas swapping channels on 60 odd different TV's :)

bear in mind the bigger the screen the worse the picture quality when you get it home and arent watching promo videos ;)

I'm looking at either a 42" panasonic plasma (more forgiving to poor sources and still looks amazing when on a good one) or the Samsung 8000 series 40" (when their prices drop) for super thin bezel and general prettyness when switched off lol. I have very odd requirements when looking for TV's

Hactually that looks well sized in that room :) I guess the thinner bezels are helping screen sizes no end these days (My 32" samsung LCD is the same physical size as most 40" screens thesedays lol)

Freeview HD ftw.
For an off the wall picture quality test try Ch4 Deal or No Deal... the program is dire but for some reason the picture quality on freeview SD is mental let alone the HD version!

we recently threw away a panasonic 32" & it took 3 of us to load it into the car to take to the tip... it was bigger than my first rented house

Our old sony 28" weighed fukking loads, seriously,if that had fallen on somebody it would have killed them

When I moved into my first flat in 2004 I went and got a toshiba CRT (just as LCD's NOT HD were coming out). I think it was 28/30" so quite bulky. Myself and a mate went to pick it up and nearly threw it into orbit as we expected it to weigh as much as the shop I got it from but oddly it was a one man lift allbeit not easy due to size

i was adamant 3 years ago i wanted a 50inch but opted for the 42 as i was advised by the guy in currys,my room is too small for a 50 lol
