At the beggining of december i finished work early one thursday or friday so i took the laptop to my local Pub to use their WIFI and "do a bit of Xmas shopping"
While browsing for the usual presents for the mrs, i got bored as usual so i went on ebay, im always looking for vauxhalls for sale, and came across a corsa combo van 20 minutes away from me with a knackard head gasket, so i put a cheeky bid in and completly forgot about it ( i was a good 7 or 8 pints in by this time)
So sunday afternoon i looked on ebay on my phone (still unaware that id been bidding) and i noticed it said 'Items Won - 1' i thought "what the feck have i been bidding on!!

So as soon as Christmas had finished i got the van in the Mrs's parents garage and me and Tim (the Mrs's Brother) started. Here's a few pics of how it started

We stripped the old engine out

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1982.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1983.jpg

took the fuel tank off and drained all the remaining diesel out and removed the fuel sender

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1984.jpg

Then cleaned the engine bay out as it was covered in cr@p and oil etc
Thats Tim with the steam cleaner

Then we tried the complete V6 lump to see what we were up against

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1990.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1991.jpg

We fitted the rear mount with proper spacers

Still Day 1 ( i think)

We realized we needed to move the engine mount (as its in the wrong place in a diesel) and had to cut a bit off the bulkhead and remove the rear manifold.

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1993.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1994.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1997.jpg

This was the first stage of cutting on the bulkhead

Pretty sure its Day 2 now : 28th Dec

then we got the engine back into the bay and mounted the gearbox up and decided where we wanted the engine mount.

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC1996.jpg

Day 2 now (im sure)

This is where we decided to weld the mount back in

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2010.jpg

and red oxided
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2011.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2014.jpg

And then set about making a mount, no pics of it before i painted it tho

maddogdaz666
10-01-12, 09:12 PM
Day whichever one it was

we modified the front exhaust manifold for the rear

Rear manifold Front Manifold

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2002.jpg

then cut it and moved the flange as it still fouled the steering rack

before
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2006.jpg

after
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2007.jpg

and it still caught

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2019.jpg

So we cut it and moved it and trimmed it some more and removed the EGR

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2001.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/V6%20Van/GEDC2004.jpg

Its turning over but the spark only lasts 3 or 4 seconds, and the fuel pumps not working properly yet, i think i have the lines on the engine the wrong way too.

Didn't realise Corsa engine bays were so small, I've got shoiteloads of room round mine compared to that!

the engine is sitting fine, i bought another front manifold for the front, used the origional front manifold for the rear (if u get me) the manifolds are on, the downpipes on, downpipe was cut and modified too and everythings fine, theres about 10mm clearance from the rack. im confident it wont foul now.

yeah i was surprised! i cant remember the last egg V6 i built being that tight.
It is a hell of a lot easier using the Cavalier/Calibra inlet and loom tho!
The vectra one is a hell of a lot more complex, too many sensors and the inlets are way bigger!

Lewis.
10-01-12, 10:17 PM
lol that certainly looks snug in there. I can sense a bonnet bulge coming on, Jack stylee lol

You think that inlet is bad, try using the 3.0 one. It would be waaaayyyy worse than that lol

maddogdaz666
11-01-12, 02:35 PM
i nearly did as ive got an omega 3.0 MV6 engine and loom too :p but i went the easier and cheaper route (or so i thought). so i didnt have to swap sumps etc and have to buy more parts.

i cant get it running yet it wont spark for long
anyone got any ideas what it could be?

11-01-12, 03:17 PM
Is the immobiliser connected and working Ok?

maddogdaz666
11-01-12, 04:10 PM
not sure, ive sent a wire to the transponder, blue n red wire?

shed-on-wheels
12-01-12, 07:54 PM
you have a 3 blue and red wires for the imob one goes from the ring to the ecu, the other goes to the vss on the gearbox you also need to wire in the live, ignition live and ground on the ring

i'm looking forwards to this day coming for mine, but i'm just far to idle to wire it up lol

maddogdaz666

xe's are much easier to wire, there's no immobiliser, get it sorted matey, you'll love it. That moment when it first fires up is awesome :)
Video to come tomorrow as i forgot my camera today. :tard:
Need to fit gear linkage and the header tank tmoz, then go for a test drive to the pub for a celebratery drink!
Oh and i should fit my meriva disks and V6 callipers too lol

maddogdaz666
16-01-12, 11:43 PM
good news and bad news!
Good news- got header tank on, tidied all the wiring, fitted the gear linkage and set it up, gets all gears fine. Then re-fitted the lights and front bumper, and battery tray. Then went for a spin!
Was a bit all over the road as its still on the standard shocks n springs, but it dont half make me smile! And tim! The noise is awesome!!!

Bad news- i forgot my camera again!!

Jobs tomorrow- fit gas shocks and lowering springs, fit meriva disks and callipers, and fit chrome end pipe on the exhaust as its filling the van with gases!!!
The exhaust isnt quite long enough and sits behind the bumper so the gases come thru the rear door into the van :( not good.
Oh and cut a hole in the bonnett so it closes properly.
And most of all REMEMBER MY BLOODY CAMERA!!!
I doubt ill get time to flip the rear axel tomorrow, but i will do it in the near future.

I would but it's tucked away in the garage for winter, and there's not enough space t work on it. it's not going to be on the road untill may anyway, so there's no rush lol

argh no pictures! can't wait to see a video of this, are you keeping it looking like a beat up old van for ultimate stealth?

maddogdaz666
26-01-12, 11:21 AM
yeah plan is to keep it looking standard and beat up, or get it stikered up as ''royal fail'' van :)
But i think its gonna have to go, as im running out of room on the drive and i need some money to build a garage.!
Any offers welcome.

yeah i got out ok, i was fine thanks everyone.
I didnt even know it was on fire till id come back out of the house.
The story goes:
Id come back home and parked it on the grass opposite my house because the mrs had blocked the drive, so i went into the house to get her car keys to move it, and when i came back out, the van was on fire, i tried the bucket and water method but that did bugger all so i had to dial 999 and sit back and watch it burn :( nothing i could do :(
