Me and the better half are talking about going to Las vegas this year for the first time,

Recommendations for hotels,places to visit,we are going to a shania twain concert(not my choice lol )

any websites for good reliable information would be greatful,also personal experiences,

I went to Vegas for my honeymoon(Good job it was somewhere decent as it was the only year I have missed Billing!) in 2007. We stopped at Ceasers Palace and it was an amazing place!
I don't think you will go wrong with any of the most famous hotels on the strip. Ceasers palace was close to the middle of the strip so was best sited to explore all the hotels(Don't under estimate how big this place is!).
The scale of things there is pretty unreal, it was a couple of days before we realised there was a shopping mall on the back of the hotel! It was a decent sized one aswell.
One thing I can recommend is a helicopter trip over the Hoover dam & Grand Canyon. We did an afternoon champagne picnic trip. They take you out and fly over the Hoover Dam then the Grand Canyon, they then land in the Canyon for a Champayne picnic then fly back. They time it so the sun is going down on the way back and it is night time by the time you fly back down the strip so you see it all lit up. Highly recommended!
Stratosphere is good, its a loooong way up and your ears pop in the lift. There are some fcukin scary rides at the top that fire you out from the top, not to bad if you are on the ground but not that high up!!!!!!
Its a none stop 24hr place and its soooo in yer face, don't expect a relaxing holiday but it is one to do. I have ticked it off the list along with New York, great experience but not sure I would go again.

I got married there 10 years ago, The day after the planes hit the twin towers, so not the best timing!!!

Its a wicked place, we stayed in Ballys, part of what is now Paris hotel, The venitian is amazing and i would stay there if i go again. You need to visit the grand canyon, there is a trip round the dam which is good, you can spend a couple of days just walking around the hotels, they are spectacular.. However a week is more than enough there..

Be very areful with money, Its easy to get carried away in the casinos.. we had a budget of about £15 quid a day, quite funny at the time we had nothing and it was the only way we could afford to get married, it cost us £150 Quid, Rather spend money on our house..

As said hotel choice is important. Stratoshpere is worth a visit for the rides which are cool, but don't consider it as you hotel, it's cheap but quite far away from the strip.

We stopped in Circus Circus which was really cheap, had all the facilities and was recommended to us by a friend for some reason. It's cheap for a reason - it is looking very tired now and is just tatty basically. Plus its right at the end of the strip so it's a real trek to get anywhere.

I would spend that bit more to get in one of the big name hotels - without going OTT - as said Ceasars, Mirage, Treasure Island all looked good. Venetian and Palazio (sp?) look awesome but I'd bet they're pretty pricey.

Its obviously worth a stroll up the strip at night. Some of the shows in front of the Casinos are worth a watch, the Treasure Island show has plently of totty and the fountains at Bellagio are just spectacular! Take some warm clothing to the canyon with you. We drove there from Phoenix where it was 37 degrees, got to the canyon and it dropped to 0 degrees and snowed. Hoover Dam is also great if you're into that sort of thing.

Vega's is bloody awesome, we spent 6 days there, and imo its wasn't long enough - you can get lost in some of hotels they are that big, especially the Venetian with the canals inside it! We went to the Shelby Cobra factory which was cool!
We stopped in the Stratosphere, and my criticism would be its right at the end of the strip, still only 10-12 mins walk though...

I much prefer and winter holiday (skiing) to a summer one (spain etc) but Vegas is something else, imo you'll need 2 weeks there just look round the hotels!

Here's me looking down from the spinny roundy ride! Also did the one that shoots you vertically up which at its highest is nearly 1200ft up! The spinny one is 1000ft up!!
