Im dropping a gte 1.6 injection into my 1.2 carb nova...
Im usless at the electrics...
and wondered if the gte engine loom is seperate to the car loom? (eg. lights, dash)
Or is it all one loom?
Thanks..

It runs its own engine loom and is easy to wire

the gte engine loom is seperate. it is on the engine & fits into the engine bay.

you need to recycle some existing wiring, as in the 1.2 coil feed becomes the injection ign +ve.. then there is a wire from the fuel pump that goes to the efi fuel pump on or in the tank, the green wire from the rev counter connects to the injection rev counter.. the most difficult bit is using the choke light as the EML warning light for the fault codes.

all the sensors from the engine, the starter wires etc, and all the other wiring on the loom stays exactly where it was, and

Where would you seperate the loom on the gte to connect it to the 1.2 tho?
Sorry im usless at wiring..

there will be a main plug at the end of the loom that needs cutting off, theres a guide in the article section

its pretty easy tbh as you only actualy need a couple wires for it to run then its a case of what mowgli says and connecting up the engine management light to your old choke light

I couldnt find anything about it in the article section :(
Ok cool so i can leave all the car wiring the same in my 1.2 then put the gte ecu in and a few wires
here n there and then connect up the engine managment light to my choke?
Is that pritty much it?
Thanks

the wiring is basicly the same as it is in the guides for the big block/small block apart from you wont have the transponder thing so just ignore that part

Is this any use?

I'm so confussed,i remember the corsa sport having a big plug on drivers side that separated the engine/loom from dash loom,is the op's situation the same, unplug and replug or not?

Carbs dont run ecus? efi injection does? oh deary me lol

cut a hold in the bulk head
cut the plug off the end off the gte loom
fit the grommet and feed the loom through
wire up the wires using the guides in the articles section

use the wiring diagram for fitting a c20xe as its basicly the same

theres only like 9 wires i think that get connected up, the starter loom is totally different so dosnt need touched

carbs dont run an ecu because carbs just bucket the fuel in as needed, the gte is injection and gets fuel from the injectors, the ecu can change the amount of fuel it needs with changes in temperature etc

which is why you get a choke on carbs for cold starting, injection cars pump more fuel via the injectors as it takes a reading from the coolant temp sensor and senses its cold and needs more fuel

you don't actually need to chop holes in anywhere. you only need to feed the eml & rev counter wires back into behind the dash, everything else is done in the engine bay.

where does the gte ecu sit?

mowgli

swedge, the injection ecu sits on the AFM. the ignition ecu sits on the bulkhead behind the inlet manifold.

the bosch jetronic setup was designed to be added into an existing vehicle design with minimal upset or extra cost, (well, thats what the bosch engineer at a seminar at the old vboa winter show in 1993 said), so it is thus dead easy to fit to an existing carb setup.

didnt know that, seems pretty easy tbh lol

any one of you lot got a orange gap 1.6 efi engine and coil setup that could help me, i need to work out what coil / / wiring i need as the looms been cut so need to wire it up
