Mk1 Early rub strips are clip on and deeper than the later Mk1's which are similar profile but rubberised and stick on, late Mk2 are also stick on but different profile iirc (I'm an early sort of guy)

They are the facelift Mk1 bump strips. Looks like you have the early larger plastic clip-on bump strips fitted

It could have stick on bump strips about the same size as the plastic ones(Very rare though). Unless its a very late registered 85/86 car which would have clip on plastic trims. They changed to the slim ones from 86/87 D/E reg

Hi all, I have just removed mine from my '83' Nova. I noticed apart from the fact they are very heavy lol - The car has metal studs which the clips clip to which then allows the moulding to slide on.

What I'm curios about is when I get new wings they wont have these studs on them, what's the proper or best way to sort it out?

I was also thinking about (maybe) removing them altogether??? Would I be best to just cut the studs off and just prep for paint as normal?

What are people's opinions on removing them especially as its a very early nova and it would be moving away from originality??

here's a pic with them on

i would put them back on mate tbh, being such a early nova will look best with them on imo

you can still get the rivets from vauxhall, if not i will probably have a few
