Need some advice.

Currently i have a Dawes XC1.4 disc mountain bike. Its a 22inch frame

Been hitting the trails at the forest of dean a fair bit lately and loving it.

Trouble is my frame is just too big for the jumps, berms etc.

So, im on the look out for a new steed. Will probably ebay mine and put that towards a new one. So budget of around £300 - £350ish.

Any recomendations??

I would love a full sus, but not within my budget.

Heres my vessell 2 weeks ago its a full custom build using a cove foreplay frame, but this was built for when i did loads of dj, its getting rebuilt when i return with bigger forks, decent gear setup, new bars and stem and maybe some 26" rims.

Have a look through here. Done many transitions through that site and never had any problems.

There are some very well priced and well cared for bikes out there, I picked up my IronHorse Yakuza from a bike shop in Brighton for £200 as a Ex-display model. I think these bikes sold for something like £800 when new.

Ill keep an eye out for you!

EDIT - I didn't actually give you the link to the site!

Very nice bike for £350

Definately lost my big balls so not for those, its for comfort for the 25+ mile night ride we do, its bliss compared to my old hard dj style seat lol

i can vouch for that pinkbike site being good, but i would advise cash on collection if poss.

Get a big travel frame with big forks so you can hit a few dh runs with some big drop offs :)

100% Agree with you there! You do have to be cautious with pink bike, buit i guess as long as you follow the same sort of rules as you would every where else IE cash on collection or speak with the seller over the phone and pay via PayPal everything should be cool. I have used it numerous times with no troubles.

i dont rate them at all mate, sorry :( just think they're excessively heavy and cheap built. that said i've always been a kona man, my xc race bikes a kona and i've got an old stinky at the moment, built it up out of spare parts i had in the garage but am wanting to move on to something a bit nicer.

ideally i'd build it up myself but i don't want to spend a lot and one way of going over budget is a custom build lol one thing always leads to another and next thing you know budget is right out the window!

so instead am looking at orange 223/patriots. ideally a few years old and as light as possible. missed a couple really nice ones just before xmas aswell. 223, boxxers, deemax wheels, xt/saint groupset, carbon bars seatpost etc for 700

The Lower spec ones are cheap built but coming from a GT jump bike the kona is in a different league, built quality is excelent and its a very good spec for the price

all konas are mint, i ride a kona roast 2007 model, still going strong, and only the frame is the only bit not replaced lol

each to their own mate, i just dont like the way they ride. i like my bikes as light and flickable as possible. not knocking your bike, just its not for me :)

always wanted a 222. they looked awesome. my bike is like a tank lol. steel frame, freeride forks, steel crank :/ 23kg iirc. i weighed it at work

aye, no the lightest but plan on saving weight elsewhere. am only 10 n a half stone n quite a smooth rider so a can get away with light wheels which imo makes the biggest difference.

light tyres and pedals, small saddle, carbon bars, seatpost aswell to hopefully bring the weight down some more

a bike i had recently that surprised me weightwise was a commencal absolut jumpbike. singlespeed, 1 v-brake and it weighed about 50lbs i think  more than my kona stinky anyway, although it didnt have brakes or a chain at the time
