Is this going to end in tears? lol

What I didnt cinsider was that those big billies have no shoulder for a bump stop to sit on, so that could be my theory (in your case) blown out the water. Regular shocks/coillies deffo need them.

I've run some shocks without BS's before & the sensation of bottoming out is horrific. Putting them back in solved it.

Aren't the bumpstops internal on Billies.... Goes off for a look.

EDIT: Maybe not the same type though.

Bump stops on a shock like that normally sit around the piston, under or possibly as part of those dust covers? Looking at the springs on those though bottoming out looks unlikely, about 40mm drop? But I'd fit some if you're planning any forest stages with large crests lol

ive had them without bumpstops on a nova before, made me cry everytime i went over a big bump as the shock sounded like it was trying to exit the bonnet lol

These type bilsteins have an internal bumpstop. The piston is like an upside down shocker and the bumpstop is on the rod inside.
