    i would never ever pay anything like that. most i have ever paid is ?600 but then i worked my way up to what i have and had what i could afford without making insurance rule my life. its one thing having a car faster than ya mates but think what u could of had if u saved all that extra for a couple of yrs and used it for a nice fast motor at the end. The phrase 'run before you can walk' springs to mind

Yep, tho Dan has a very good point, and you can't play if can't afford to pay.

If you kept a cheaper to insure motor and let your mates spend their money on mods (money which won't be recovered when the car's are sold) whilst you saved the extra money now you'll have to pay to go towards a faster car and gained another year or two's NCB, you could have had MORE. Can't be bothered to explain now, but i'm sure you understand.

Also, get a quote FIRST before you decide to make changes like an engine swap.

Try CIA www.cia-insurance.co.uk im paying ?1300 on my GTE all mods declaired, 2 claims, one which was my fault, 3 penalty points for an SP30 and i have zero no claims. yeah its still a lot, but to me, its worth it.

My mum phoned up as its in her name and they did not class it as an engine mod, so they have not effected my premium.

i think you will find if you rang up and explained again what you had done you would have a different result as she prob didnt explain it right or there are lies around, as it is your engine has a power enhancing product put on it so your insurance is void. i doubt you will and will prob drive around illegally like most other dumb asses helping bump up everyone elses premiums but you have been warned. (if you have been on the sharp end of this problem you would understand my bitterness)

i wrote down what the carbs were when my mum phoned up so there would not of been a problem in what she was telling the insurance company. I will phone up myself tomorrow cuz if i am driving round with invalid insurance then if i have an accident i am in the sh!t.

Even so, i dont see how the mistake could of been made in the first place when my mum gave the correct info on the carbs.

Gaz i thought you were 19?

If you are how the hell have you got 9 points? if you are then you have been driving less than two years therefore should be banned for having more than 6 points in your first two years of driving?

?Marty?

Yep it's true, but once you retake the test, you regain your license and carry on (with the endorsements).

That is a blatent piss take :!:

Youd think the punishment of losing your liscence would be bad enough but too still carry the endorsments.

What would happen if you lost your liscence at 18 with 6 points and you retook it and passed then got 3 more points? then you have 9 points inside 2 years so should be banned again :?:

I am 18, have 9 points.

- Got 3 points on my scooter at 16 for speeding
- Got 6 points in one and 255 pound fine last year as I was doing twice the speed limit.

Retook test the Febuary and passed with 1 minor.

I have defonately learnt my lesson and never speed anywhere, weather you believe that or not.

I was caught with a laser gun in long eaton, notts.

If i get even 1 point then i loose my lisence again, 3 more and its a 12month ban as i have accumilated 12.

Gotta be so careful that everything with the car is correct etc if i have a tyre thats illegal - 3 points and 1000pound fine so check everything on the car nearly every week.

Loose 3 points from the scooter in 6 months and got just over 2 years to go before the other 6 go.

Regards
Gaz

I agree with Dan that people should learn to run before they walk. It amazes me how people with little or no driving experience are allowed to be insured on respectivley fast cars.

I wouldnt say i am an inexperienced driver, once i passed my test again I went on a 3 courses which werent compulsary after being banned but wanted to so I would have a greater awareness and understand the car more. I have details on these courses somewhere around here if anyone would like any info on them, I found them a great help and feel alot more comfy/safer driving

Im with Liverpool Victora. When i bought my 2l 16v gsi i phoned to tell them, but they said that because that engine isn't listed for a nova they'll charge me for a modified 1.6 (thats 5% on a standard 1.6) and cause my last nova was a modded 1.6 there was no change! sweet!
so im fully comp on a 2l 16v Kreg Gsi, all mods declared for ?750 ( i have 3 points and im 23)
