View Full Version : Anyone suffer with migraine???
Ive had a severe migraine now for the best part of two days. ive tried Sindol and Migraleve tablets to no avail, it seems to be pretty persistant. Without sounding like a baby im getting close to tears, agony is an understatement, blurred vision and a heavy thobbing at the front of my head are making it feel like it could explode at any time.
Does anyone have any experiance of any other over the counter drugs that could help.
Im sending the Mrs on a mission in a bit to get some supplies, id go myself but dont think im safe to drive.
any help/advice greatly appreciated
rep will be added.

I used to suffer with them. I then started smoking and proceeded to have them diminish. (Not that I am recommending you start smoking haha!!) But yeah, the strongest nurofen you can find over the counter, works for me an absolute treat mate.
I know your pain. When a migraine does hit, I get all the above symptoms. Plus a few others. :(
Then there is the usual dark warm room and epic amounts of sleep. Or a combination of nurofen and sleep.
I get them the loss and blurring of vision is rather scary I was given co codamol when I broke my elbow they gave me the strongest ones they really work and not just for migraine .
As above, cocodamol is about the strongest thing you can get over the counter and you can take that with ibruprofen as well, but cocodamol is paracetamol+codeine so obviously anything with paracetamol in it is a no go. Codeine is supposed to be addictive as well, although I'm not sure how tbh as I never saw any other 'effect' from it besides pain relief.
Think it's more Americans tht seem to be addicted to it but don't know how I don't think it's an opioid either but some might get drowsy off of it
Get to the docs bud.
I suffer bad with them,Gave up smoking too. I dont drink or any other substance's. im so bad i am sick. I also had to go asleep to blank pain. I now take a tablet every day which is called Half Beta. I take another if i get the start of one. since taking these tablets every day they have stopped coming so often.
i used to get them 2/3 times a week, now maybe 1 or 2 a month..
Co codamol should help, failing that, ask stuart for the spambots details for some blue's lol
Nothing blues won't solve wake up next day feeling fresh as a daisy just don't get addicted
please go to the quacks. simply using a cocktail of drugs cos someone else finds they work is not the right way to do it.

Codeine is highly addictive, and shouldn't be used continuously for more than a few days.
Like most things, in a short burst its fine and pretty effective.
I work in pharmaceutical industry btw
Very very salted chips/KFC and three aspirins works a treat for me when I get them. Also sis hydrate makes a good alternative with sodium in it.

I get severely blurred vision to the point I can't really see! Pins n needles across face and tongue. And dull pain behind eyes. Sleep is the only thing that stops it for me as I am not a fan of tablets.
As far as I can work out, too many fizzy drinks- any diet type coke etc and I get it within a few hours, lack of sleep and lack of food are the things that cause it with me. Haven't had one in about 6 months since I realised what was causing it and started taking 2 ltrs of water to work rather than coke.

when i was on hols in menorca, the missus did her back.. we popped into a local pharmacy & asked for ibuprofen. they said, would you like 600mg or 800mg??? whereas in the uk its max dose 400mg.. the spanish pharmacist explained that they had no trouble with people popping 800mg.. so if i have a bad ache, i pop 600mg at a time & if that doesn't work, then 800 it is.. also i make sure i have a little food, as it can give bad bellyache

You should never take it on an empty stomach, it causes ulcers with med/long term usage.
