help using feeler gauge

i need to reduce a plug gap to 0.80mm
none of the blades on my feeler gauge have specfic measurement on them

each blade has two numbers onit i assume the top number is metrichttp://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif

the blades i plan use to make 0.80mm look like this

022
559
mm

028
711
mm

030
762
mm

if the top numbers are metric then is that the correct measurementhttp://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/facepalm.gif

i tried to convert 0.80mm on google an the figure it gave didnt add up to the lower number on the gauges

now the old rule of thumb was that 40thou (thousandths of an inch) was 1mm approx...

so i reckon the top no's are thousandths of an inch, and the bottom no.s are thousandths of a mm

so the 30thou / 762 is pretty close to .8mm.
