Wanting to put some better speakers in the standard position in the van, what size are the standard speakers and what replacements do people recommend for an easy fit

10cm I believe, I fitted some Pioneer ones to mine just required a bit of the cardboard chopping out slightly

Yep, 10cm. Anything with a smallish magnet should fit

I bought some MTX items a while ago from a auto care place a while ago, for the size of them they sounded really good and fitted in the place of standard mk2's, ill try and find out the model number if you want :thumb:

how the hell do you get the old speakers out the dash of a mk2 i can get the grill off and the vents below them and by the look of things they twist anti-clockwise but my hands are slightly too big to get round the speaker to twist it so i thought about taking the headlight switch panel out but i can't seem to get that out either i have got some vibe 4 speakers to go back in

You're right they twist into place. It is a right job to get them out, I cut my hands and wrists to bits when I did it many moons ago. Dropping the fuse carrier gives a bit more room to get your arm in straight and obviously glove box out on the passenger side.

Of course if you don't care about the speaker you cut take the grill trim off and use a screwdriver from above to twist it out lol

hadn't though about the fuse board i'll try that next time i have a go. cheers phazer.
i have only got one speaker to get out, the passenger side one is missing and the cable for it has been used to run 2 house surround sound speakers that were wedged under the dash on the shelves so i now have them out and behind the seats and wired to the correct outputs of the head unit and i have temporarily wedged my new vibe 10cm speakers under the dash untill i have a day to get them into the standard speaker places.
