hi all i want to have a go at some trackdays, so what i thought was get a fairly pokey car, strip it out put 2 bucket seats in and some better stoppers and go have abit of fun, then if i fall inlove with it i can build a proper track slag.
my question is what car do i use, i want somthing thats fairly easy toget parts, nippy or can be made quicker with easy mods and most important of all cheap enuf so it doesnt matter if i funk it.
all comments welcome.

TBH mate, most things will be fun out and track once you get weight out, some decent brakes and suspension. Just make sure you have a little bit of poke ;)

if its good enough for you to have on the drive its good enough to strip and have fun in to see if your more into it, or get what ever you can for the min amount of money doesn't really matter what it is.

try to find a rover 100 (last of the metros) then stick a 1.8 in it..... crazy fast, and loads of cheap engines about....

Saab turbos seem to have fun round Combe. and you can pick them up for not alot of money.

hmm thats worth a thought, i dont really want to be swaping engines before going on track, i might just have a do in the ka turd and see if i enjoy it.

Corsa Sport gets my vote too. Piss cheap to buy, even cheaper to fix.

106 or 306 GTi - handle brilliantly out of the box and you will feel even better if you blow it up! lol

I wouldnt bother with a corsa - they are OK, but in terms of power/handling, a pug will do it everytime (if its running!)

mark 2 Golf 16v are also pretty good, but most are ragged/rotten by now....

Ford Pumas handle very well too - 1.7 16v and 130 ish bhp and about £600 now

For a cheap track car there isnt anything better than a 106 gti/saxo vts imo. Very nippy and cheap as fcuk to mod and to fix and there's loads out there to chose from. Wouldnt bother with a corsa as it will handle just as bad as a nova without spending a lot on a decent set up.

I disagree, my last corsa b had mix and match of everything suspension wise, not even a standard rear arb and track rod ends that never been changed etc and it handled very well imo

it was a small block though lol

Puma or puma engine in the ka you already have go for the 1.7 126 bhp standard handle well and a few extra bhp easily extractable (think puma racing was 150bhp) ka wi that engine would be funny as feck there the same underneath aa the puma and fiesta so suspension is readily available to make them handle like a dream

My thinking behind a 325 is that most have mtech bumpers etc. By the time you sell any of the fancy bits you should end up with a very cheap car.

Mr2's can be had quite cheap too.
