Well im back, with another nova, this time its taxed mot'd and clean!!!

Some of you are probably looking at my post count and thinking wtf, i used to be on here as novaboi_1991, with the red 4 door saloon, but my account got hacked and now i dont have permissions to post :confused:

Anyway, I saw this on autotrader, 1.0, 50k geniune miles, was 75 miles from home but was a good roadtrip,

Apart from needing a new rocker cover gasket, ive not found any other problems as of yet lol, but being a nova, i probably will,

It has the 1.0 OHV engine, my previous car was a mk4 fiesta 1.3, but losing that 9bhp? the fiesta has over the nova has saved me £31 a month in insurance :d

Anyway, What do we all think? Its lowered 60mm and has mk3 astra alloys on it with mahoosive tires...

oh lol, i couldnt insure an XE, also, i actually like the little 1.0 pushrod lump, its fairly nippy around town, sits at 75 easily on the motorway, My mates saxo broke down 3 times on the way back haha,.

For now its gonna be small and subtle mods as my last 'loon was made to be/look sporty, red rocker cover etc, but id like to have this looking +OEM/Euro, may go slightly lower, want to change the wheels, pressed dubmeister plates and just generally make it spanking clean

I've always been into saloons, just something about clean tidy 4 doors that catch my eye, I like the 2 doors with mk2 bumpers etc also but getting one of them cheap is probably a no no, I was lucky to get this one

Today I've purchased a new rocker cover gasket as it has a slight oil leak due to a missing bolt, however upon removing the rocker gasket and cover I've found the 4th bolt has been snapped :( I need the car for work do have tried to seal it for now so fingers crossed.

You can drill the centre of the snapped bolt and use a stud exstractor which has an opposite grip thread that grips your drilled hole and unscrews out with the tool.

Today Ive not done much, ordered new headlight clips because mine are a bit crap,
Planning on taking the nova off the road for the snow as I'd rather not ruin her, so it'll give me time to give her it's first tidy up in my ownership, the battery tray is mint but where the previous owner didn't clamp the battery it's scraped some paint and I can see that starting some rust, so will sort that, corsa sport brakes, painting the drums and calipers to tidy it up. Want to check for rust as its too good to be true, possibly drop an sr lump in and an Ashley exhaust, that's about it tbf, Id like to clear coat the the turrets etc and build the engine up nicely but my lack of knollege means I need help from friends but I try my best lol

Lovely loon mate, also agree with keeping the OHV engine - not a bad engine really, great around town and got decent poke for just 1.0 litres. Just a pain when they're neglected.

You've inspired me to perhaps spray my rocker cover red...could go with the black/red theme I have on mine!

Now then, ive nt been on for a few days, however someone bricked one of my windows over xmas, so that was boarded up until today when i got paid, i went to ashford vauxhall spares to get a repacement,

i plan to stash the nova away in the lockup and use the corsa for a few months so i get time to give the nova a freshen up, i wwanted to keep it origional but am considering a 1.2 carb engine as a replacement to the 1.0 OHV engine

Im currently looking for some new wheels and a set of coilovers for it, also a set of clear rear lights so i can tint them red, Ill get some pics up tomorrow once shes got her new window in, and had a bath

Well, not been on here for a while, heres the last pic i took before sorn'ing her, Since i took it off the road ive had a 1.1 saxo, but it was generally crap, not great on fuel, swapped that for a daihatsu charade auto, that was ok but crap on fuel, so sold that and got a 106 Diesel off gumtree. Very impressed with the fuel economy its giving, anyway.. here we go,

Well, not posted for a while, the nova has been off the road, but i got sick of missing it so sold the 106 daily, stuck the nova in for its mot and passed first time with no advisories :D

Now shes legal again i set about sorting a couple of issues she has, i.e heater matrix leaking slightly, blower motor not working, filthy front seats.
the misses bought me a set of aero wipers off ebay, so will get them on when they arrive,

also got a pair of front seat protectors for when i have the seats steam cleaned, a new blower off novarally, along with a heater matrix also off him,. top guy with very fair prices!.. :thumb:

Well, not posted here for a while...

Since i last visited, ive had a set of cav slabs, painted them orange, went off them, they got sold, bought a set of 17s off ebay for £50, Sold them on, Got a set of the mesh wheels off a BMW E30, Very poor condition, however im going off them quickly, Not sure yet, heres a pic any who.,

Also, in between faffing about with the wheels, ive been covering some bits with black crushed velvet fabric, looks like its been flocked haha, Ive done my mirror covers for inside the car, the panels that go up each side of the windscreen, also my parcel shelf, im pretty happy with the results seeing as it took about half hour to do the lot.

Ive been a bit trigger happy on ebay also,

We now has pressed plates, the legal ones haha, 8k hid kit should arrive today, some autoglym tyre dressing seeing as my mates convinced me it works..., urm, xenon LED numberplate bulb ( looks a bit better than the crappy yellow) and probably some other random crap i didnt really need... Will update as soon as wheels are done and on the car

Evening all,

Had a day off today. so decided to get some bits done on the nova, bought a pair of new headlight clips not long after i got the nova, not bothered fitting them but noticed the other day one was missing and one broken, so fitted them today, headlights solid now,

Fitted my HID's the other day, Beam pattern is pretty good being honest, ive not tweaked them just literally took the old bulbs out, fitted hid bulbs then routed all the wiring, and now i can actually see at night!

Also fitted red pinstripe to the bumper a week or so ago, got a set of 14'' VW golf steels painted black which i really like the look of now, will be repainting them before long as some of the paint has chipped.

As some may have read, im going for the euro look, so i tinted my reverse bit of my pass side light. Pic below,

What do we think?

You cant read them in the pics, but i do like my stickers, have a line up the back window to keep in with the euro theme, They read,

Another update, Sort of... New wheels yet again :D

Ive bought a set of 10cm ripspeed speakers with the intention of fitting them to my dash, but it turns out theyre too deep so wont go in, Also bought some alpine 6x9s which im installing in the rear shelf,

I doubt ill get much done over the next month or so as im skint and just moved, I coulldnt really afford the new wheels, but i was sick of the steelies so needs must,...
