I have heard supernovas do a blanking plate to flush the tailgate. I was wondering if this is true, and if so has anyone used it and what it actually consists of fixing it to the boot.

Thanks

yep they do, i saw 1 at maxp live.
they look ok & easy enough to fit
its a moulding of the bottom half of the tailgate, you could use afew things to bond it on with like fibreglass or a high strength epxoy resin

i take it you still have to fill and smooth the outside area of where it fits down?

looks like it slides over the tailgate from the bottom ... then smooth it in by the window ... shouldnt be too tricky ... put expanding foam in there so it aint hollow like i have :P

Looks like a pretty good alternative to 'proper' flushing. Maybe even better.

that plate will still have to be welded in if you want a proper job done. imo.
You'd be aswell getting a sheet of metal from a stockists.
i got a sheet of metal for ?5 that ill be welding in.
"cheep as chips"

1 drill - one packet of self tapping screws, some filler and some spray paint to match your cars colour.

a few hours later and you're done as far as i can see with that blanking plate.

wouldn't air get behind it, making it crack?

Supernovas sell them.
Look at the news on the main page for a link to their site.

looks like a top product

a wraparound would cover up the join nicely as well

The panel is made from fibre glass.

all though you cannot see in that photo, there is not a part on the panel that sits in the recess of the boot it is completely straight, so it may be quite week.

If you secure it proberly am sure it would be sufficient, what do you guys think?

also i've got a wrap around spoiler that will need a little trimming but if i can do it right should look good.
