Has anyone on here undertaken this conversion?

I have the basic C16XE engine and a collection of a few bits from my Fiesta RST. I'm presuming I can use the coil pack, EDIS module, crank sensor and a set of C16XE leads with RS coil pack ends on them along with a megajolt setup for the ignition side.

Are the bike carbs any better or worse than a set of weber twin 40's on this engine?

Also any pointers on the best type of carbs to use would be ideal too. All I know is I need some with a throttle pot on them?

Thanks for any help in advance!

By the looks of it your nearly there, Tom Reid off here is your best bet regarding most questions regarding this.

Also have a look through this CLICKYME (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?161068-bike-carbs-on-x16xe&)

calibra keith on here has my old c16xe set up and matt brown also on here has the megajolt wiring to copy from if needed. i used to original bottom pulley, tunred down the trigger and tigged the 36-1 trigger wheel that trigger wheels sell, i then turned to wheel down a touch so the crank trigger its self could be used in its correct bracket.

i havent many pics doiong the setup but when home ill dig some pics off a project thread that may help.

as for carbs i had r1s but my engine was built to make 190-200bhp.

id suggest a set of zx6r carbs, give better mid range than the r1s and a good peak.

Thanks for that. That's pretty much what I need right there! I did use the search button but didn't come across that gem!

Thanks Philip! Did you use the Ford crank sensor or the Vauxhall one?

Thanks Philip! Did you use the Ford crank sensor or the Vauxhall one?

most people use the ford sensor but the guys overon autosportlabs say you can use any crank sensor as long as it puts out the same reading as the ford one

Nice one Swedge. What is the toggle switch for out of interest?

I presume fueling wise I just need a none injection tank, single feed between carbs & tank. On my kit car with a 900 Fireblade lump I used a Facet solid state pump and Facet filter king fuel pressure regulator. Will this be enough to fuel the C16XE or do I need a beefier pump?

you can still use a injection tank just block off the return outlet, the toggle switch is just to turn the ecu on and off which will be hidden ;)

im using a solid state pump aswell with a filterking regulator but havent actually started it yet but cant see why it wont run

carbs run alot less pressure than injection so the pump should be fine

Well that's more good news. With the kit car, the throttle cable was just a modified bicycle brake cable. Is that going to be the same with this conversion or does a throttle cable from any carbed Nova work?

i just used the standard nova throttle cable, just cut the end off and fit a solderless nipple
