Has anyone got any decent pics of how they've done this, I've got complete mental block resulting in no wipers 0.o better still anyone fancy coming and doing it? Coffee fags tools and materials supplied! lol

havnt got good pics, but to start with you need to cut and weld it so its shorter in length to fit in the standard nova holes.

after that you then cut one of the other rods coming off the motor shorter. then its a case of getting it to wipe correctly. the one just mentioned i made it so i could alter the length of the sweep on the one arm, its just a hollow tube so i cut a bolt head off to use the body as a lengthener/shortener kind of thing with jubilee clips. i havnt finished it yet but i think i may have to cut down the actually metal bracket that comes off the motor itself to alter sweep again.

are you using a battery in the standard location? fortunately my exide battery has a cut out big enough for the linkage to rotate inside it. without it id be buggered.

another thing to worry about is how the bits sitcking out the scuttle are covered up, there rather long compared to nova ones, something ive yet to think about.

Dont bother, I've found no matter how much spacing/angle chocks you make the spindles stick thru the scuttle panel at the wrong angle so the wipers wont wipe/clear the screen very well.

I've cut and welded the bars from the motor and the one that affects the drivers side sweep (with a 18inch blade the wiper hits the screen rubber)

One wiping. Note the wiper blade not touching the glass at the top (i'd bent the arms/ fitted flat blades and everything)

Shortening the main bars,

And the sweep bit..( is wrong in the pic, you need to add length in to the arm, not shorten it)

In bits while cutting and welding,

I made a bracket to hold/support the motor up.

Nova one under the dash? See a few of them..

How does that work? I've been toying with the Idea of making up some link bars with some M6 threaded bar and putting the nova wiper sort of in it's original position but behind the scuttle panel

That's what i'm trying to do at the mo too. And i don't know tbh, Dutch had it on his Nova as did Gaz from WCC.

Think it's gonna be the best way, using these:

Not sure how that would work...

Remove the original ball joints off the wiper arms and motor arm, drill and fit those and cut some lengths of threaded bar, get LH and RH threads then you have a bit of adjustment. And the won't just pop off like original nova linkages lol

Ah ok i see. Might work.

Whats the point of the Corsa wipers?

you usw the corsa wiper linkage instead of the nova one to get the benefit of a smooth firewall.

Also probably better so the stupid linkage doesn't snap and pop off after time, they are useless.

Hence the threaded bar + ball joint idea

See i've only ever had one prob with it popping off, tried loads of stuff. Till i noticed the little bit on the side wasn't pushed in on the plastic bit... Never had any probs since pushing it in..

Benn I know what you mean but all three of the Novas I've owned did the same and the poly coupling in the arm wore on the notches so was basically fecked, I once even had a Mr Bean moment of tying string to my wipers to clear my window (I ain't taking the pee btw) lol

I nicked some cable ties off some armed response coppers in sainsbury's petrol station once and cable tied my link bar on - on my green saloon, even sold the car like it a few months later lol

See in about 2002 i was taking a ex too work when it started peeing down. Drop her off flick wipers to clear the screen. The got half up the screen and stopped, the linkage snapped. Just as it starts to lash it down.. Proper cant see where you are going hard rain.

So i used two shoe laces, one out each window to the drivers wiper.. Tie in the middle (in my face) so as i drive i can pull it side to side to clear the screen... Worked too.

Next day, i ordered a brand new complete linkage from Vauxhall. Still have it in the garage hahaha as i fitted one from a scrap yard.

Mine did exactly the same thing, properly lashing it down and they stopped in the middle of the screen!

Your story reminds me of when the throttle cable snapped on my old Mi16 309 though lol stripped a core out of a bit of twin and earth and leathered my mates fiesta on the way home with my arm out the window working the throttle :d
