increased displacement.

a normal oversize is just for rebuilding a std engine, so won't do anything.

if the 88mm is a high compression jobby, then i'd expect an increase in output. but it all depends on the spec of the piston

Iirc takes it to a 2090cc which is the closest you'll get to a 2.1

i think it was meant to say

'ok, what difference does putting etc.....'

no point in 88mm unless going silly on the head and revs, save the block incase of failure and go next oversize, whether 86.5m 87 or 87.5mm

From what ive read not that much tbh.

Ive been looking into parts for my XE engine, and it genuinely seems that 87mm is the way to go, its about a square, 86mm bore and 86mm stroke does something with this "Square" engine.

What spec are you going for on the engine?

full on race mate

I have 88mm High comp pistons. Imo there is plenty of block left after machine work. If your after big power and Torque then why would you laps on displacement?

there isnt enough meat in the block as you cant get any bigger piston than 88mm for the xe's. if you have a meltdown on 86.5, 87, 87.5mm theres always a better chance you can save the block rather than having to source a new block and go through decking, overboring, etc again and tbh the gains going to 88mm is negliable

so wait gains can u get on 88mm or 87mm pistons eg bhp engine size does it go up to like a 2.1 bottom end

probably make 1bhp more, nothing you would feel and notice. 87mm make circa 2045cc, 88mm makes circa 2090cc, unless building a 9k rpm xe then stick with the next size up the block will clean too and also anything over 87mm you need a cometic gasket due to bore size, so if kept 86.5 or 87mm you will save £100 with being able to keep a standard headgasket

i think ill go 87mm then as wont that littal extra
