Hey all i have a complete x18xe thats sat in my vectra gsi rep and am thinking of puting the engine in my nova loon can it be done the same way as the redtop and on webbers and that thanks marcus
you wont be able to fit a dizzy to that engine though so you would have to use something like megajolt to control the ignition side of things

its the same as a (redtop milk) big block conversion but the wiring will be slightly different, also you would need mj or somthing to run the carbs unles the exhaust cam from a 20xe would fit then you can run a dizzy

Ah ryt i c thank u very much myt jst leave it as a 1lt and sell vectra sounds like 2much work to me to be honest ta marcus
If your wanting more power then a smallblock is pretty simple, my c16xe was pretty simple and anything that confused me slightly was soon found on here, cant comment on anyother engine eg. 20xe as iv never done one but the 16xe was well worth while.

What about a TD swap?
fantastic MPG, wind the boost up to 17psi and turn the fuel screw out half a turn...teddythoms 1.2 OHC cant keep up with it, and it'll pull 110mph all day long. on a slight downhill however i'd be a liar if i said id not bottled it and lifted off.
And that was with a 1.5...think of all the rusty 1.7TD astra's, corsa's, cavaliers ready to be had off ebay for pennies.
As far as i can see, on my engine there's a heavy duty positive lead for the glow plugs, a heavy wire for the alternator, a four pin plug on the alternator (i presume to provide the battery warning light, and the rev counter signal), a two pin plug on the diesel pump, and a multi plug on the diesel pump itself to worry about with regards to wiring.
TBH, all you'd have to do to get the engine running however would be to wire the plug on the diesel pump (connected to the fuel shutoff solenoid) to switch the fuel on, and a positive feed to the starter/solenoid.

but on a derv the mounts are way different and in a different place so would have to cut chassi leg and weld a derv mount in
