View Full Version : Bit of a dilemma..
Obviously for 17 year olds now days insurance isnt cheap, and to top it off ive brought a nova with twin 40 carbs on..so would just basically like to know anywhere that would insure me with the carbs declared, or if thats not possible would it just be easier to put the standard carb back on until next year?
Just basically need everyones ideas on what to do, and maybe recommend some places for me, best quote ive got is 2700 if i put the standard carb back on.
Cheers.
Is it an SR by any chance?
for 2700quid id save the money and bike everywhere, thats a joke.
1.2 merit mate.
and might as well..
I really sympathise with young uns insurance these days, its just getting silly now, theyre charging what they want.
as much as i love the sympathy its not going to solve anything :( haha..

What other modifications have been done to the car, you'll need to declare them all.
TBH I think you'll have trouble insuring most performance mods at 17, especially 40's.

Yea ok most of them do drive like @unts, but irrespective of that, the pricing now is just nothing short of plain robbery!
that and an exhaust but can change to a more suitable one anyway.
but looks like im taking them off then, ill only be saving the dellortos anyway until i can get insured on them :)

To be fair, they are charging less than what they are paying out in claims for this age bracket, statistically speaking, but to be fair again that is because insurers allow pretty much every party involved in the claim process to take the pi**. Excuse my french.

A new scheme would be good for young drivers after every year if there has been no claims etc then they get a lump sum back from their insurance.
it would never happen....
maybe banning young drivers from anything more than 1100cc & absolutely no performance mods for the first 2 years would be better

Isn't there something like this in the pipeline anyways?? I also thought it was something like 1200CC and 55hp or something?

Insure the box type products promote and reward better driving, we are looking at launching our own version of this product at some point..
