Hello folks the name's Rab, I'm originally from Falkirk but I'm currently studying in Dundee, a friend told me to sign up on here after I was looking at a nova for sale and was wondering if anyone had any more information on the particular nova, I've attached a link to the picture.

Welcome along I'm sure if was a bit of a bucket there's an older ad on Edinburgh gumtree and you can see the rust. Maybe the side skirts are hiding some rot.

I would look on other sites as well as gumtree, I had a few bad experiences with sellers from gumtree, arranged to view and possibly buy cars, one guy wanted electronic payment before I even viewed it and then tried pressurising by saying a deposit was needed or else he'd sell it to someone else.
The other guy had me travel a 3 hour round trip and then wasn't at the address he said and refused to answer the phone, found out later he had done this to another guy too.

There are genuine sellers but looking here and other well known auction sites is a good idea, people here are usually known and obviously the famous auction site has feedback scores.

Yeah, seems pretty decent, according to him it's surface rust and the areas around the windows are ok, but I'm interested to see how well the red top conversion's been done, any tell tale signs to look for it being shoddy?

im sure iv seen that up forsale about a month or two ago. if its the same one im thinking of i read in a thread on another forum and the lad went to look at it and it was a rotter. i could be wrong though, i know it was a red j reg and the pics looked like that as far as i can remember. just if you go and look rust is the main thing your looking for

Non stitch welded, no plating kit, i.e. the front turrets leaving the rest behind.

I'm sure some other members will give you a few pointers.

Well I've done some digging and turns out that the guy who's selling it has friends in common with me who have vouched for the chap so I think I'm gonna give it a chance, I'll have a look tomorrow and if the rust is totally horrific then I'll give it a miss but if it isn't too bad I'll be the owner of a wee red top nova :)

Hi pal welcome along! Most common thing is rust check sills, arches, battery tray, strut tops, xmember where the radiator sits, headlamp panel, floor pans, boot floor basically everywhere lol In regards to the conversion id be checking for - decent suspension setup, decent brakes 256mm or above, hows the exhaust been modified to suit, what driveshafts is it running, is the engine sitting correctly in the bay, water pipes not bodged etc etc

The guy seems to know what he's on about and he's done more than one conversion but like I said I'll have to have a look at it, I know what to look out for, seems he might be on here since after looking at one of the pictures there's a PNG Club sticker on the car.
