Quality, they did a group b demo @ lydden at the BRX in aug, cant wait for the ERC season to kick off again, easter bank hol weekend, roll on!

I wonder how many of those cars are still alive? I know the Astra 4S is dead but the guy on the Astra forum is doing a rebuild of it, and iirc in later years Will Gollaps 6R4 got a twin turbo conversion lol

Then you also had the RS500 and the old 2door turbo Volvos, there was a lot of weird cars at that era of rallycross,

Everything was better back then. Rally cars, Rally cross, and touring cars. Best days of motorsport IMHO.

Wish i was alive in that era, when motorsport was a household thing, and health and safety was relaxed a tad, and people put performance gains instead of economical gains :roll:

health & safety has been pretty much the same for decades, don't believe the hype..

motorsport hasn't been a household thing since the days of moss & fangio, what has changed is simple, the cost of putting on an event has spiralled, whoever owns the championship keeps putting the prices up

rallycross has always been a marginally spectated sport at best, and if it wasn't for cable telly & people with rose tinted specs, it would have died out ages ago, it was only invented cos the bbc suddenly had a massive gap in their schedules because the RAC rally was cancelled during a foot & mouth outbreak in the late 60's, kent was ok, so they quickly knocked up rallycross & televised it...
