well, what a load of cobblers.... this country has plenty of test tracks, and the manufacturers know fully well where the best testing roads are.....

also... there are quite a lot of private tarmac roads used for rallying in the uk..

as for a uk nurburgring.. it will not get built simply for the cost & HSE considerations.. imagine the risk assessment the society of do gooders would come up with for that one!!!! the nurburgring survives because it has been there since the 1920's, it has gained legendary status because of its history, and it is the sort of thing that only decades of use could create, it is, i believe, basically a toll road run by the local council and gets away with lots of liberties that anywhere else would not. a new facility would have to be safe with massive runoffs etc...

they'd probably put a speed limit on it and have speed cameras everywhere lol

The only OEM's that 'might' use it would be AML and maybe lotus... but Lotus have their own circuit already and AML use the M40 + enjoy the jollies to Germany.
The europeans wont come here for that as its easier to hit up the Ring already.

lol @ "just 24 euros a lap" in 08 it was 17 euros when I did it and I'm sure it was less a few years before that.

No need for anymore replies, that's got to be the worst idea ever, not a hells chance it would be considered, lets face it, they didn't just build the ring for tourism, they did like we have been doing for years with our disused runways...

well in casino royale, the aston flipping bit was so obviously done at millbrook, which is probably the twistiest test track in the uk, and as top gear have shown, they will rent it out, for enough money anyway....

even MIRA (remember folks, we park our wagons there) is open for track days
