are 1.6 shafts different from 1.2 shafts??

Yea, 1.6 (GTE/GSI/TD) are 22 spline, all the rest are 28

1600 shafts are used for the XE/LET conversion too, so prices are a bit higher..

The 1.2 & 1.6 shafts will interchange if you are doing a small block conversion though

why did vauxhall actually change the shafts on gte/gsi/td ?

Less splines is stronger. More surface area

More Splines = More Surface Area

agreed.

In agricultural stuff, they use 6 spline in low hp applications & 21 spline for high hp applications

How do you go about using the 1.2 shafts? i have a E16se and a F13 box

simply fit them. the outer splines on the inner cv joints on the std f10 (fitted to 1.2) box are identical fit to the f13 box.

so basically when fitting a 1.6 into a 1.2, you take the engine & box out & fit the 1.6 & box straight in, the mounts, connections & shafts are a direct swap,

ah didnt think it would be that simple. nice one!
