Sooo annoyed ! I bought a headlight in good nick.to replace my one which had collapsed inside, so.the reflective bit fell down and was loose inside the lenses.
Now I replaced my bulb and this one has just done the same ! Is there anyway to get them open to.fix them properly or can anyone tell me what's happening ?
Cheers

My mk2 ones always went black on the inside, probably the same problem, even my spare 2 which are in a box in my dad's house are the same.

wind the adjust all the way in, support the lense through the headlight hole and push the adjuster in, will take more than a few attempts but it will pop in eventually, it's only a ball and socket joint.

even if they are working as intended, they are still crap. MK1's are far superior curt, you should know that lol

Is there an obvious difference in light when driving in the dark with MK1 headlights?

It's too make you revert back to the mk1 lol

There should be given mk1 headlights are so big and flat rather than sleek looking like mk2 ones.

I had both in my Nova and thought they were both fine. I never have issues with visibilty though. Don't get it when people refer to them as candles in jam jars etc. lol

Thanks mk999 I will try that. Mk1ns must have been made better tbh. And Lewis I couldn't go back to a mk1 now unless it was another Sr or a gte lol. When I went from mk2 to mk1 I thought the mk1 lights were better lol
P.s sorry about my punctuation, I'm on my phone and during the rant pressed the "." Instead of space Haha

Both still have the same light source though, so theoretically should have the same light output. Any differences would probably be down to the headlamp lens design and where it puts the light.

Its not just Novas, my cav headlights are rubbish as well. This is why I usually swap to quadlights - which I'm just about to make a thread about lol

Do you still require a certain set of smiley lights Jack?

My MK1 headlamps are the original ones that still even have the security reg etchings on them. They are mint inside and out and look almost new. I've seen a few MK2 lamps go black like that. I don't think you can remove the glass lens like you can on Vauxhalls like the Cav etc to give them a clean

I heard Calibra lights were awesome.

They got projectors in and look awesome with some HID's in them. TBH not many early 90's cars that have amazing standard headlamp systems.

ive been asked many times how i have smoked my front headlights (total vauxhall included) to then reveal that its just the shonkey mk2 light. rusted on its own accord. lol

Haha that's pretty funny. Did you have to find 2 that matched?
I removed my hid kit and the halogens are far far better

May well do - will need to go measure the cav lamps and see what size they are first :thumb:
