View Full Version : help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i need a bit if help if anyone can please
i've fitted a x14xe in to a nova everythings gone well and no problems untill now?
i followed the guide in the "how to" section
and my engine had a slight change to the guide
the immobiliser pick up ring in the guide said it has six wires
mine had seven the extra wire is a brown with a small red trace
anybody had this before? and where does it go?
allso i have a flash code from the ecu
1 flash, gap 5 flashes, gap 10 flashes
the engine turns over but doesnt fire
check the fuel supply no problem
checked theres live at the coil pack no problem
checked the fuel pump is wired to the cranking side of the ignition
again no problem
any help would be great
cheers stu
did you have the engine running before? it sounds like an immobilizer issue. make sure that the chip is in the right position and close enough to the transponder.

as john said make sure the chip is actually making conection and iirc you only need 3 wires to run the car from the ring thats the 2 thin red blue one to ecu other to vss and the ignition live
i've tried moving the chip around, no good
been out and looked at the codes again
each cose flashes three times
first one flashes first go 1, 1, 5, 10 but then the two other 2, 1, 5, 10
second code 2, 10, 4, 1
third code 2, 1, 5, 10
forth code 2, 10, 4, 1
thanks for your help so far lads

oh and yes the engine was running i drove it home from liverpool
i assume it was running in another vehicle...
which ignition +ve did you use to power the ecu?
yes it was running in the tigra, i drove 100 miles no problem
the ignition feed for the ecu
was taken from the back of the ignition switch
to the one that stays live when cranking over
it could be the spare wire from the transponder ring (brown with red trace) don't know where it goes
and the four fault codes????????

Thers 2 ignition wires from the nova loom. Make sure you have used the right one as one has no power when cranking.

in the picture from the "how to" guide
has the black ignition feed
from the fuse box to the ecu
fuse box to the transponder
and the vss to the fuse box
all have to be ignition that stays live when cranking?????????
all three wire's?
cheers for the help
i'll give some rep out later

I didnt have a vss on mine. But the other two will have to be live whilst cranking.
rep given to everyone who as helped
cheers lads
any one know what the two fault codes mean?
2150, 2041,

cool you got it started then?

right dude lets go through this now you have a vss wired up yes?
signal to ecu wired up?
ignition live wired to the transponder
and earth
that should be all you need to run the imob if you dont have a vss you will have no end of trouble with the car cutting out and junctions ect
the engine ran spot on before it was in the nova
(i drove the tigra home)
so its something i've done or not done?
yes i've fitted a vss
but didnt come with the engine
wired up speed signal, earth and ignition
and yes there is a ignition and earth to the transponder
but there is seven wires and the guide only
shows six, my spare wire is brown with a red trace????????
but i've got the engine turning over
and got two fault codes fashing
2150 and 2041
if i can find out what these mean it may
find the problem.
cheers stu
cool you got it started then?
no mate
are you sure those codes are correct? the tigra uses a GM multec mpi ecu which uses 2 digit fault codes like this, 25= injector valve

This is from TOPBUZZ btw CLICKYME (http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm#gm)
The Motronic or GM-Multec fuel systems use a 2 digit flash code. The engine does not have to be running when reading the codes, although it doesn't hurt if it is.
Once the wire link is in place and the electric's are on, the ECU warning lamp will begin to flash out the codes (wait for the initial boot up check that lights up all the warning lamps). Each fault code is repeated 3 times and then it moves onto the next one (if any). Once at the end of the logged fault code list, it will go to the beginning again, giving you plenty of time to note down the code (on each fault code shown, there will be a pause before it shows the next one). It will carry on like this forever until you remove the key from the ignition or the battery runs flat. To clear the fault codes, simply remove the battery leads for a few minutes and then reconnect.
For example, lets say there was a ECU warning lamp noted and the owner wanted to read what fault code was logged. The owner has already put the wire link in place and switched on the ignition. A flash is indicated by an astrix (*) and a pause is shown as a dash (-).
*-** (1 flash, 1 pause and another 2 flashes = code 12)
*-** (12)
*-** (12)
**-*** (23)
**-*** (23)
**-*** (23)
*-** (12)
*-** (12)
*-** (12)
**-*** (23)
**-*** (23)
**-*** (23)
*-** (12)
*-** (12)
*-** (12)
Owner then takes the key out of the ignition.
Lets go through what has happened. After switching on the ignition, the dash board lights up showing the self check, after that all the lights go out and the ECU warning light begins to flash the error code. The first code is 12 (one flash, a pause and then two flashes). This is repeated 3 times.
Code 12 at this moment means initiation of diagnosis. After that came code 23, which means 'Knock control module', i.e. there is most likely a faulty unit or a bad connection at its plug. After code 23 has been repeated 3 times it flashes a separator code, which is code 12.
It flashes this 3 times before going to the next fault code. The next code is code 23 again which means its finished showing the logged fault codes and has started back at the beginning. The owner can switch off the ignition. A healthy car should display a stream of code 12's. To find out what fuel system you have, read the "Fault Code Chart" below.

what wires are on the actuall loom youve wired and are they done corectly e.g do you have power going to the ecu?
thanks for all the help lads
have to go back and check the codes and check all the wiring
cheers stu
