Just to let you know i've just come in from a nights cruisin and done the Vauxhall boys proud - Beat an Escort GTI upto 80 mph (not by far). Does anybody know what BHP these GTI's are meant to be?

Don't beleive me then. They are not fast - Like saxo VTR's - very slow considering they have got a bigger engine.

I agree, a bloke I used to work with had one, he was always saying how good it was etc. etc. but one time we were both going up a slip road and I left him behind!

Dont be saying saxo vtr's are slow now, its a lot faster then any nova unless 2.0 conversion or 1.6 with turbo.
I love the nova to bits, and the escort gti BHP is around 130 BHP.
Its got same engine as a Mk5 XR3I engine maybe a bit slower.
So around 120bhp.
A nova sr 1.4 will only have around 80 bhp even with air filter and exhaust etc, and needs to be in A1 condition engine wise.
But well done on beating him, keep up the good work!

Boyracer - A Saxo VTR only has 90 BHP and they are heavier than a nova. Both me in 1.4 SR and my mate in 1.4 SRI have had races with VTR's and not been beaten. I would not back out of a race with any other standard VTR's because one I had a close encounter with had full stainless exhaust and an induction kit. Has nobody else raced a VTR before?????

i have! i won, but then again it was a bird driving!! novaboy is right bhp figures aren't everything!! it comes down to weight and also torque! why do u think race cars use carbon and shit, for looks?
