I've got the option to replace the old carpet that's on the floor of my garage for some Heavy Duty interlocking floor tiles. Been given around half, so obviously have half the outlay I expected. (about £220 to pay)

http://www.trudec.com/html/heavy_duty_system.html

Is it worth swapping it all over. Garage is dry, so don't have an issue with water logged/damp carpets. Also has a flat concrete floor so have not issues with uneven tiles etc.

Anyone got a tiled garage floor? Worth having? or not?

Discuss.

my pals got his done and it looks good but when he has been working on cars in there with jacks etc he has cracked alot of tiles, depends on what amount of use the garage floor takes everyday i suppose. ;)

Definitely won't have any issues with weight and jacking on them. I cant get in enough to use a jack in my garage anyway.

£220 wont get you the proper tiles mate. For that you will be getting the cheap foam ones from normal stores. A year ago i searched the web for months for the right thing and checked countless forums to see what people use. It's VERY expensive to do a garage floor, most people were paying over £1k for a normal sized garage.

In the end i got a quote from versatileflooring.co.uk using eco tiles. Give them an email and kathryn should email you back (well recommended through the forums). I ended up paying nearly £700 for my garage, cant remember what square foot it is but around a double sized garage. These are durable with any weight you will be putting on them as they are industrial tiles and come with a 10 year guarantee. They do a few different colours and patterns and also thicknesses. I went for the plain back and 6mm thick ones as i was getting around 50% knocked off Lol. Iirc i paid £16 per sq, they were meant to be around £29 per sq.

I wouldnt try any cheaper type, it won't be good enough for driving and parking on and you will only regret it and re-do the floor.

I've had them down all year and they are as good as new and very easy to clean. Remember to give the exact measurements to them or else you'd end up short like i did lol luckily they still had some of the same batch left over so i could finish it. Thought i had some better pictures of them but you get the idea :thumb:

Lee you need to read my initial post again mate.

I have acquired half, for free. The £220 is all I need to outlay for the remaining half.

I know these are strong enough. These are industrial Tiles at 6.5mm thick. See original link. The area where I work is covered with them. Has 5 ton Forklifts going over them all the time.

The first four I got had a 10foot diameter component (sat on a 1" wide flange) on them for over a year, before being thrown out. They're plenty strong enough to sit a car on.

As for price, these are £28 per square meter (four tiles at 500mm x 500mm)

Sorry, i was rushing lol

Sounds like they are the real deal then. I would definetly do it. The price is the same as mine and most i saw on the web, they're probably all the same stuff.

Not quite sure why you have to ask lol clean place to store your car with no dust and warm and comfy enough to lie on your back working underneath the car. The only issue i can see is that the tiles may be slightly different shade as it'll be a different batch but you probably wouldnt notice it.

Edit to say i've just looked at the link, they're the same thing. With my tiles though i chose to use the hidden joint ones, which for some reason were cheaper but imo would of suited my garage more.

Asked because I knew a few on here have them and wonder what they're like to live with.

The tiles i've got are dirty and marked anyway, not overly worried about a colour match. All the new tiles will be at the front and edge of the car. Old ones under the car.

Just a reminder of my garage.

That's a very neat closing door. Im limited with head height in mine so had to get a new roller shutter, was a right pain in the **** to fit Lol.

I would recommend them 100% anyway, wherever i move out to in the future i will be doing the same again. Would be good to see examples of other peoples garages/floors on here, i wasnt sure anybody had the tiles. I checked the 'supercar' forums to get advice on the tiles but you just end up getting jealous of what they have lol

lol lol Timber job, almost double width and a lot longer, painted concrete floor. It's how I roll. :/ lol

Your two garages sound great! I love those supercar ones. I have a pic somewhere of an RS500 on a black and white chequered floor with nothing else in the garage bar a roll cab and a thermoter/analogue clock. lol
