As per title, some of us run a nova as a daily through thick and thin, anyone have any suggestions for some good winter tyres??
Preferably cheap, as I don't have a fantastic amount of cash, I know to some degree the more expensive it is the better, but hey, everything is on a budget lol

find a local motorsport place and get some used gravel tyres from them they are awsome in the snow

I use to run 165/70/13 snow/winter tyre, could go just about any where, above is a reasonable idea!;)
I do prefer a coarse pattern, myself, mind the componds available today are much better than when I use to run my nova in the snow..........twenty years agolol

Well I run 195/60/14 on my 5 spokes...
Have managed to grab hold of some steelies, which are running 185/60/14 (I think) and was thinking about using them as I don't mind too much if I kerb them lol
Reckon you drum up some sort of tyre to fit the steelies?? Also where you located etc??
proof? :p
What sort of proof do you require?? :p

I found 185/60/14 summer tyres a nightmare in snow/ice, proper winter tyres may be OK, but note rally cars run skinney tyres on snow/ice......for a reason!!
i used nankangs last year, worked a treat in the snow lol

Ok know the real info you need and I do know as I have used winter tyres every winter since 1991 on snow, ice, frozen tarmac and so on.
WINTER TYRES AND FOREST TYRES ARE NOT THE SAME THEY LIKE NIGHT AND DAY, CHALK AND CHEESE.
Go for a 165 width tyre, Nokian w+ or Semperit speed grip 2 are good and not too expensive, better are Goodyear ultra grip 8 but cost more.
Winter tyres work not only on snow and ice but on wet and dry roads which are so cold that normal summer tyres stay hard and so have low grip.
Winter tyres have things mixed into them that work a bit like rubber anti freeze so they stay tactile and Malleable when summer and forest tyres go hard and stay like that due to the low temperature.
Hope this helps. :thumb:

and ran my old Vredstein Snow Stars on the back.
They are all currently on Sport2, not that she's going out in the snowlol

People are now starting to take the hint having has 2 bad winters, I am starting to see varios cars now fitted with winter tyres, a small C180 coupe has just turned up at work with a full new set, although I personally hate RWD in snow/ice especially if they are autos, mind at lease modern cars have traction/abs, but there wasn'r such a thing n my Rover SD1 3500 VDP auto, she was a full nightmare.
I will never be without a 4x4 now!!! (mind had one for 7 years now)
