1.6 8v engine tapping

hi guys goin to look at a astra tmoz has a really tappy engine, tapping most of the time when idling but gets louder after 3000rpm any idea what it could be

valve stuck open or lazey lifter dude, has it got oil and if its the mk4 astra them engines are ****e lol but then again if it didnt ta most would say its not a vauxhall lol

nothing serious then mate and no its a mk3 astra mate and yes all my other engines have been tappy tbf lol

most probably tappets, put your ear near the rocker cover and see if it sounds like its coming from there

unless its got a misfire it wont be a bent valve or the timing out so probs the tapets dude

Could be little end(s)??

I wouldnt assume its nothing - could be a valve guide too - I had an xe and the guide was boucing up and down with the valve - didnt misfire or anything!

Could be a ruined oil pump and oil isnt getting around sufficiently??

Get it sorted ASAP

yes did sound like it was from the rockers cover gets louder the more you rev, just drove it bk 155 mile and hasnt changed nouise is still the same mate says its top end, will a 1.2 8v top end fit on the 14.6 8v and any differences to speed etc

i would just rebuild your 1.6 top end bud

any idea on price wise mate isnt it jsut easier to change the cam housing with new cams in cheers
