getting some quotes for the new cav sri, and in amongst the usual £1,000+ quotes, Lancaster classic car insurance is coming up at £161 on gocompare. nobody else gets close, and even if i try through their site as a fresh quote its £2k+

^^ what he said, if it's coming up with that through confused.com then buy it through confused.com, then if they get the hump then tough, just make sure you get screenshots etc, otherwise they might get funny, so documentation is a must!

If its a standard car, and your looking at a classic policy with a classic provider, with severely limited mileage, then that sounds plausible tbf, but youre going to need to ring them up i think as you dont want to buy it and find that they backtrack and its £1161 lol

They can cancel it from their end if they see fit, see the previous braided brake lines thing.

That would be the price I'd want to pay though lol

Don't even bother ringing up have a punt online. I had this with my insurance for my Daddy wagon this year got quoted £460ish by Kwikfit via compare the market. Rang them up and by the time I hung up on the horrible little scrott on the end of the phone it had been bumped to in excess of £1200!! Had a little moan on another forum (as you do) and a lad on there just bought it online for the price quoted and hasn't had any comebacks thus far..

..until he needs to claim!!

I got an online quote for Admiral multi car. Vectra SXi and the Nova.

Quoted for both (ticked what i could with regards to mods for the Nova, Vectra is as Vauxhall made it) £770 for the year!!! Result.

Rang them up, thought too good to be true etc....and it was. As soon as i mentioned about the Nova..."oooh we dont touch modified vehicles" lol even though on the website i ticked almost ALL boxes (suspension, alloys exhaust etc)

If i had gone with my first thoughts i would have taken the policy out. As i didnt and i rang them i am glad i didnt!! Wonder how many fall foul of this??

What can they do? IF you've filled out the details correctly and listed what (if any) mods etc you have they can't do diddly squat! I think they have to abide by what you've been quoted and if you haven't pulled a fast one **** 'em!

A quote isn't a guaranteed price it dosent have to be honoured and the insurance company can cancel the policy if they see fit, in saying this internet policies arnt checked it's upto you to put in the correct data, but got watch them laugh at you if you have made the slighted error and try to claim, and you won't get your money for the policy back either as its your error not there's, I never use Internet to take a policy do to get an idea of price then ring just so I have some come back, worked in insurance to long I'd rather pay 10% more by calling and know I'm covered

Probably get it 10% cheaper by calling them lol

Admiral used to cover mods, they did on my GT4 and even offered retail value reimbursement, subject to proof, at one point. That was about 2007/8ish though. Probably got hammered by all the young boys in Saxos, Corsas and, er, Novas lol so stopped doing that
