Evening, just aquired a more door mk2 astra, 1.3 8v. Now, i havent got the engine out to get the code as im doing that tomorrow, but am i right in thinking its the same base engine as a sport? & is there anything worth stealing off the astra? Cheers, jake.

i think the astra was 13s and the sport 13sb. Basically the same.

the old 13s was internally identical to the later 13sb, but i think the oil filter was different, and the 13s had the varajet2 carb, but the 13sb had the twin choke pierburg

Not all 13S had the varajet carb.. mine had a pierburg, not unless it was changed perhaps.

Varijet was on mk1 Astra and mk2 cav. Mk2 astra was was 2e3. The was a date crossover when the 1300 moved to metric oil filter not sure what it is off hand.
