Stripping all the old lines off the car so the underneath can be welded/ painted etc. (original factory brake bits seized at each and every fitting)
So I will need to replace everything with new back to front.
What size copper lines do I need?
What size unions do I need for Rear beam~ rear beam where the copper joins to the flexible hose~ hose to copper under car~ under car to master cylinder/servo. Basically everything!
Any help greatly appreciated so I can get them ordered today ready for some mincing on Friday morning.
Brake pipe size is 3/16 - get Kunifer rather than plain copper. Search my previous posts on where to buy this from, don't have the link handy at the moment.
Beam end flexis and cylinders are M10x1
Master Cylinder end are M10x1 and M12x1 for each circuit (diagonal split, one front is 12, the other 10 and so on).
Only other thing I would say is if you haven't already, get a decent flaring tool and pipe cutter. Cut the pipes are straight as you can and remove any inner and outer burrs before you flare. Good luck!
Phazers advice is spot on.
I second the buy a decent flarer kit, dont waste your money on a cheap one because it'll make dodgy flares that will take repeated attempts to get right so they seal.
And final point, remember put the union on BEFORE flaring the pipe lol lol

Cheers phazer! That's fantastic. I need to get a set of brake pipe spanners too... Never realised there was such a thing until I rounded a couple off!
And Adam that's probably something that will happen with the unions. lol
How much are we talking for a decent flaring tool seen a few sealey ones on the bay for around £20.
I bought a piss cheap flaring tool with pipe bender off ebay for about a tenner & its farking spot on.

No worries, been there and done it, so glad to help. This is the one I bought, it was better than I thought, not too expensive either:

I got all my copper lines via there ebay shop. Clarik Engineering Supplies or something like that.
Flaring wise, i found the ones where you hand twist a end that flares it where utter sh*t. I borrows one that gots in a vice and had a pull down handle that pushing the form in to the tube...
Are you lot doing single or double flares?
Dub being a inner one in and the larger outer one out yeah?

Shamelessly stolen off Google Images lol
Oh, the one i used give a end that looks like the one of the left.. How the funk does the one on the right seal being that shape...
Crush fit when tightened up.
Oh, sounds sh*te...
Well its the way its been done for years lol Ive never had one fail doing that way either.

Excellent! Will I need the long or short m10x1 unions ?
Sorry if I'm being a pleb but your help is very much appreciated. Hopefully I'll get to return the favour at some stage. lol

I used short ones.
Well a double flared female end is ideal for connecting to a male union. Once tightened it creates its own seal the same as any other kind of flare on a brake pipe.
Oh right, never seen flares like that so... Only the mushroom like ones, which you can make double too in a way.

Hhhmm handle link,
I've work on loads of old cars as well as newer and only seen these type.. http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/Brakes/Pipes/PipeEnd1.JPG
As long as it seals it good.
The fitting youve pictured on RHS is the flare type Ive been reffering to all along, just couldnt find a decent pic lol
Double flair aint really used in my experience.
All the ones on my mk2 were singles.
I remember one mc i had though had double flaring fittings.

The entire braking system on my Corsa was double flared when I fitted it. Being as I replaced & re routed every single pipe & fitting, it seemed a shame not too TBH.

lol i went for the lazy option and bought ready made lines from Rally Design IIRC. Had to change 2 of the unions as they were the wrong size, but saved me some time!

Not so easy with mine :/ I removed the PAS setup, added hydraulic handbrake, rear discs, bias etc so had no choice but to start from scratch :/
