Had an Astra hub in my vice today nice and tight to get the 30mm nut off the end of the CV joint .
Gave it a tug with the power bar and BANG .....

Yeah - it needs a good tidy up which it will get Friday. I can't seem to find any 13mm spanners (I have 3 !)
Joff
I done similar things to my Clarke vice too :( going for a steel vice next time lol

Removing hub nut with hub on car FTW
Same fate occured for my small Clarke vice too, properly swinging off it with a scaff bar mind lol
I paid a tenner for my mahoosive vice from some old boy in the Ad Mag, it has 1910 or 1916 cast into it. Although not that old, it's been around a while.
Scaffold bars, mash hammers, it's seen - and laughed at - the lot.
Joff, check out if there are any farm sales in your area, they always seem to have monster size vices going cheap...

Hopefully I can swing on this without it breaking !

We have a record, exceptional quality.
1950s era. Lived through a lot of abuse, and only just chipped the paint off it.
Cant reccomend them enough, but work bought one the other week at over £900:o
My word your garage is tidy, who are you and what have you done with Joff lol
New vice looks like it would hold a cruise liner with no bother, its a monster compared to your old one:thumb:
i have inherited a vice off a friend, its a record number 6. I had no idea how expensive they were until i just looked. It weighs a ton and looks like its had seven sorts of s h i t e beaten out of it, also looks like its good for another seven, lol.
