Hi all , i know its not a nova but was woundering if anyone could help:)

A mate of mine has got a 54 plate mk4 astra sxi 1.6 petrol ,he's had for a couple of months, sadly when he got it the engine let go 3 days after he got it, he bought a good second hand engine for it, got it fitted on the original engine ECU and wiring loom, but now it wont turn over, all the warning lights stay on the dash, they have plugged in a OP.COM and its coming up with an Immobiliser faut , ( no cummunication ) they have 1 key for the car, They have had, fuel pressure/compression test/and engine timing checked its all ok, does anyone know why there would be faults with the immobiliser after the engine change ? cheers

Best check over on AOC forums mate, they have loads of info on them in there INFO files etc, i cant remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure all ecu's are different and need the corresponding immobilizer key chips in the key fobs etc for them to work.

He will need an ecu coding to the new engine, or the original ecu for the secondhand engine, they are all coded and will not run without the correct codes!

He will either need to use or source the original ecu for his new engine, or get onto one of the coding guys on ebay, they will code and supply a tested secondhand ecu, chipset and decoder ring, it cost me £240 and i had to give my vehicle code number, my chassis and engine numbers and vehicle specs so they could code the ecu to my car!

If your problem doesnt lie there, then i would be massively surprised!
