Am i the only one that dislikes Xmas:mad:?, 10 years back i loved it with a passion, however now it just seems to be such a chore!, the country goe's mental every year, gets in debt by spendy more than they can afford to keep their kids happy:eek:. Drinks to much and pigs out.lol
Many Many moons ago when i was a child:cry:, i was more than happy with a stringy selection box an action man and may be even a skateboard or new football, ( because i knew no different) today it get's bloody stupid, my mates getting his children 11yrs and 13, an ipad and a 42" tv amongst all the other presents, my sister has already spent £1000 on her 3 kids, ( not that she can afford it on what Tesco pay), Hey...each to their own!, but christmas is not about presents and materalistic things!, its about families coming together and spending quality time.
Yes a gift is nice:d!, A GIFT! not 20! we all like a present, but come on!, where is it all going to stop?.Also when our children your children, become older, they will think its the norm to do the same for their kids!, WHAT IF THEY CAN'T :(??..then they are left with the guilt factor:confused:!.
I am not a church goer or religous in any way, but i go midnight mass every year on xmas eve, and guess what ?...I GO ALONE!, because nobody else in my family can be bothered lol,. Oh well sorry for writing a book!, RANT OVER!, but lets just remember the birth of christ is what its all about!, and not forgetting all those poor kids throughout the world thats going to get sweet F..K.... ALL!

nick.... hold out hope for lynz......i reckon a hug from her is worth a 1000 christmas pressies

ian, you are showing the true spirit of christmas. just cos all around you are spending money they can't afford on kids who won't appreciate it, doesn't mean you are in the wrong..

a small thoughtful gift that is wanted is way better than some costly tat

Why not both of us! At the same time! Group hug, aww

I love Christmas. I never spend more than I can afford though and put money aside beforehand with a hard limit on spending. I'm a giver too (oo-er) and certainly don't expect like for like on quantity of gifts, value etc.

I note there's been more adverts for those payday loan companies cropping up the closer to Christmas we get lol

Another lover of christmas here! :) I do agree that Christmas has lost it's true meaning, along with all the other seasonal holidays. I can't stand getting presents, having to open them in front of people is a nightmare for me. I do love giving presents though. I never generally go overboard, although I will admit that this year I have spent a lot on Daniel, but it's his first christmas and i'm excited :)

I have to admit that to see my eldest daughter shaking with excitement just when the tree appeared overnight (we blamed a tree fairy) was magical

We had a poster up in the canteen at work about Xmas loans etc,
Yet we get paid on the 1st of Dec and get a bonus of the 18th. Idiots..

Looking forward to Xmas this year for some reason

Im looking forward to dinner and family and the general catch up with everyone, but hate all the build up, the way they throw it all down our throats with the tv adverts etc!, i am so glad to hear im not the only one who realises that xmas aint about spending bucket loads of cash on presents people dont really want anyway.
This year i am going to make a £100 donation to the NSPCC, so that children in care and hardship can have a little something this year from me. my kids like many get enough, and to be honest its not appreciated, they rip open a present then straight to the next!, i know its only excitement and kids will be kids, but spare a thought for those that have nothing..;)

That's lovely :)
When I was younger it used to be all about the presents for me, then one year I was absolutely horrible for most of the year and come christmas I didn't get a single present, my nan gave me an electric blanket and made sure I understood that it wasn't a present lol I think I probably enjoyed that year more then any, it was nice spending time having fun with the family rather than just wrecking my toys.

no, i was a bit of an addict and homeless for about 5-6month and did nowt one xmas day apart from a couple lines and a bifta, going back a good few years now (about 6)

makes you think why the hell do people rush around like loony toons and spend money they dont have to give someone a card that gets chucked in the bin.

i must say though i love the look on the little ones face on xmas day... santa is real in there hearts lol
