Hi,

Im looking at getting one of these for my mini which will be running an E16SE on bike carbs.

Was just wondering if anyone on here was running one and which one they were useing?

Cheers

Scott Parker has one on his 2.0 16v Nova.

I bought an RMD 25 for mine. Same thing, half the price. But my starter has an out put of 1.2kw or something stupid so I dont need big cranking power anyway.

I had seen them, but wasnt sure about the quality. i dont like the idea of haveing a car then not being able to start it, would make me feel like a bit of a dick at a show lol. which is why i was looking at the varley's, cos i know they have a good reputation :)

Do you know which one scott has?

RMD's are exactly the same as a Varely, and like a Varley, there not really designed as such for running masses of electronics, audio systems blah blah. I think Scott has a RT 25 but Im not sure.

Ive got an RMD here, qaulity is second to none, complete sealed item, spade terminals as oppose to gel filled batts with M6 terminals. Weights funk all compared to that of a OE battery.

is it the same sort of size as the redtop 25 then? or do they use a different clamp?

Just had a concern that the 25 might be a bit too small aswell, and they dont seem to do anything more powerful in that shape, unless im looking in the wrong place?
I dont use ebay since paypal made an attempt to empty my bank account btw.

Physical size or power rate size?

A 25 is to big IMO for even a 2.0 16vm motor let alone a dinky 1600 8v.

Just to add, paypal would never "empty" your account unless its (your account) been hacked or you owe them money for ebay fee/customer refund etc.

Must have been hacked then since i didnt owe anyone money, still dont trust it.

The standard battery for that engine is 40ish Ah, and 360 CCA.
The redtop 25 is 16Ah, and something like 600CCA.

Just seems allot lower on that Ah spec to be reliable.
What are you running in your car with the RMD battery?

This is why race spec batterys are not meant for road cars. If the battery is ONLY needed for the starter motor & then being charged there after, then all you need is CCA's.

In my car I have nothing at all other then lights, wipers, EPAS, heated screen & minimax nitrous controller but obviously will not be using then when the engine is not running so they make no odds at all. All I need battery for is to start it. Got no internal lights, no audio, no heaters, no nothing really.

ok, so sounds like we are probably running the same amount of load. Im gonna go for the redtop 30 anyway, just to play it safe more than anything else.

I had a 35Ah (Varley 40) on my Pontiac Grand-Prix ASCAR - that's turning over a 5.7L Lingenfelter tuned Chevy LS1 V8. Great battery!
