He may be trying to get all the panels to rust then lacquer it so it always has that look. I guess for some people it's easier to 'look' after a car that looks like a load of sh*t as opposed to a car that needs polishing and waxing to keep it looking clean and shiney.

My 1984 Nova swing was a bit scryffy when i got it at first, i was sorting out the electrics and many running problems at first due to pre vious owners changing everything. During the year and a half before I started getting the body better looking, I was constantly being stopped by the police doing thier tyre kicking (sorry i meant roadworthy checks).

It was always MOTd etc just looked scruffy (hand painted touch ups etc) and I was in my 30s so clearly not a boy racer!

So this and the Clio amaze me if they do not get lots of police attention as an easy target.

The ingenuity of some of the mods do make me laugh, I actually quite look a bare/weathered/rusted metal looking car, looks hardcore!

i have seen some rat look cars and some do look well done, even though the idea is to look rough, i still think its s h i t e.

my favourite rat look was a bettle i saw. he ad a mint rot free shell...and painted it with anchor wax 19 years ago. never washed it since. so its covered in wax and road dirt, but the bodywork is prefect underneath.
