Im having some problems with my jenvey tbs fouling the alternator on my c20xe
running a standard alternator with v pulley on stardard bracket
inner wing modded
6 degree jenvey sbd inlet with multi tbs yet the alternator
any ideas? Do i move alternator bracket furher down or buy a 0 degree inlet so tbs point upwards slightly?
This is doin my nut in, any help / info appreciated
thanks = pics would be good :)

I think some pics might help mate, as I'm not sure what you mean by the 6 degrees, Ive searched but cant see, do mean they come from off the manifold straight back?
I have The SBD manifold with individual TB's on mine with a manifold that makes them go up toward the fire wall area etc, and have no fouling issues.

Hmmm thats the mani i require then, mines angled so the TBs are horizontal...

If you look at the omex cataloge they give you the dimensions from inlet face to the trumpet this dimension is very important as it effects the power and torque curves. I have not had chance to try different lengths myself but from what I have researched the longer the better which my throttle bodies were angled to the same as the head so the inlet was in the fire wall sectioned off for cool air not engine bay temps. IMO change the inlet if you can stretch the ££
Flat ones are normally used on the westfield to fit under the bonnet.
Do you have parallel or tapered bodies?

I use the jenvey dth body and mine don't foul ideally you want the 0 degree manifold. I was told this the flow of the bodys. Etc.
As asked the degrees is to do with the angle the bodies are from the engine I.e 0 degrees means it's level with the head inlet ports.

No idea on the mani
But surely you need to seem weld that bay ?

These are they only pics i can find of SBD tapper set up on mine that show the manifold/inlet etc..

Can the type you have be bolted directly to the head?? if so no more money need be spent on a new manifold, and then get some longer trumpets as said this will increase the torque leaves etc.
Scott
my bodies sit higher but they are direct to head

There are 3 things you can do, the first and cheapest is to make a bracket to drop the alt down so it doesn't foul. The second is to fit a small lightweight alternater. The third is to sort urself an angled manifold. I'd go for the small alternater, this would be cheaper thn the manifold.
The optimum length for your inlet track is 330mm, this includes everything from your trumpet to your head. This can be difficult to acheive on a nova.

Look in my project thread.
I have the 0 degree manfiold on my DCOEs and I had to file 1.5mm off the alternator and it all clears now.
Either get the 0 degree manfiold, or if my carbs dont like running at an angle swap it for mine?

naa never had a problem in past, shell is split mint never welded..
Hmmm i think i need a "direct to head" inlet to get them up outa the way

Love to know how you worked that out without having the inlet velocity for his specific engine?
The SBD small alternator mount is just a GM part...I got 2, one from mk3 Astra and one from a mk3 Cav
