hi can anyone pls tell me is a mk1 nova antibes e reg engine, does this have the same bottom end as a 1200cc corsa b? mine is making a horrible wining noise? my car was stood up for 8 years before i had it and i have re mot'd and put on the road and done around 500 miles, has a horrible wining, grinding noise as if a squeeling noise from bottom pulley and does around 80-85mph flat out, does anybody know if a corsa bottom end will fit and match up to my head as i cannot find any nova's of engines in my local scrappy ecept corsa one's???
pls help me some1 unless there are any sr 1.3 or 1.4 for sale locally, cheers

The Corsa bottom end is different, in that the bore/stroke is entirely different.

yup. I had a similar problem. It would be a lot easier for you to find a complete 12008v engine. I failed to do this and regretted it. There is a member who had one for sale a while ago but due to the update I can't find the thread.

its probably the water pump or alternator... or even a wheel/gearbox bearing, cos if you are doing 80-85mph in it, the engine would have blown if it had a whine from the bottom end.

the car was unstarted for approx 8 years, i did a basic service and it fired up first time,
i had a 1200 about 4 years ago bog standard the same as what i have now but remembered it did around 105mph flat out,
can any1 pls list any 1200 8v's and what they have done as a top speed?
thanks

the 12st had 55hp new, and managed about 90 flat out
the 12spi had 45hp new & you can stall it by attaching a piece of string from the rear of the car to some rice pudding skin.

anything else is bull shyte, or involves a big hill or a badly reading speedometer.

Yea had a spi years ago and was so slow it was silly wouldn't even pull a skin off a rice pudding lol

Might have a 1.2 out of a MK1 available soon. Should know for sure by the weekend.

I had 105ish out of my old blue(ish lol) Mk1 1200ST.
BUT I will openly admit I was headed down a huge hill. I have had 100 out of her flat though. But we all know that nova speedos aren't exactly 100% accurate lol

Are you for real?

A Nova forum is possibly the least likely place to get true, unbiased replies.

100mph on Nova clocks is 91 on a sat nav
A standard Xe Nova off the limiter in 5th is around the clock reset button-probs be 145-150=137 on a sat nav.
Theyre miles out and get worse the faster you go
