Moto GP suffered a tragic loss this morning at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. Marco Simoncelli fell on lap 2 and Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi had nowhere to go. Sadly, Marco succumbed to his injuries. A future world champion gone at the age of 24. R.I.P, Ciao

Have some moral respect and remove the video!
R.I.P to the poor bloke. :(
Have some moral respect and remove the video!
youtube already did.

Oh please...
Genuinely gutted for him and his family, had so much going for him. Just goes to show how unpredictable motorsport is and how much danger these riders put themselves under.
RIP

I'm not sure it was. :(
He was taken back to the Medical Room by ambulance and was concious. He was receiving treatment for quite some time before the news was released of his death.
Such a freak accident, normally after dropping a bike it slides off into the gravel trap, but Marcos' rear tyre gripped the tarmac and pushed him back across the track and into on coming traffic. The following riders didn't have a chance to avoid him. Then made worse that his helmet came off.
As for the video being available on the internet. Numerous videos of fatal crashes are available on You Tube (e.g. Senna) the reason it's removed is copyright, nothing else. No one moaned at the numerous versions on the net of Dan Wheldons fatal crash last weekend.

I dont normally follow the moto GP, but I was watching the pre-race commentary at breakfast this morning, then about an hour later heard the news on the radio in the van. I was quite shocked.
best wishes to his family, friends & fans. I feel for his fellow racers that were involved in the incident too.
Horrific accident :( Wrong place, wrong time.
RIP

Horrible accident. Another talent taken way before their time.
Thoughts to family and friends.
Also thoughts to Edwards and Rossi.
The crash is all to similar to the crash that took the life of Craig Jones a few years back.
So so sad.
Horrific accident :( Wrong place, wrong time.
RIP

Rip Super Sic a great character lost from the sport i was watching the race as it happened and it was horrific and to the fact of he was consious was complete rubish it was then realised after that they tried reviving him for 45 minutes which they had no luck in my eyes it was instant and painless but im sure if he was here today he would be back on the bike the next possible time and although he lost his life far to early in one sense he lost it doing the thing he loved

I've got a couple of mates on bikes, they've refused to watch it. Gonna be tough on the ones that hit him. Hurting yourself falling off is one thing but killing another rider is gonna play on the brain.

It was obvious to anyone that saw the crash that he was far from conscious after it.

A fitting tribute by Toby Moody (a eurosport commentator).....

i couldn't agree more adam. the moment his helmet flew off, i knew he was a gonner, they can fix a lot of things, but not a neck injury.
i still remember sennas death vividly, and they tried to revive him for 2 hrs, but prof sid watkins was on the scene within a minute & knew he was dead...

Was talking about this at work, Thank You for the link.
It was reported he was conscious in the Medical Room, clearly he wasn't on the track.
there are a lot of reports that fly about... usually provided by the promoters spokesman so they don't default on the race contract...
it took about an hour to announce dan wheldon was dead, when it was pretty obvious he went instantly.

You dont perform cpr(in the ambulance and in the medical room, i.e. the whole time after the crash) on someone thats conscious........
Only going by what was broadcast live on Sunday. Its normally very clear when attending a serious accident how things are going to pan out. sadly over 8 days two stars in different fields of motorsport have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It was broadcast that he was conscious, but someone somewhere must of heard/thought wrong or whatever. The tracks medical team statement states that they spent 45mins after the crash trying to resuscitate him(from the minute they got him in the ambulance)
Anyhooo, yeah, definently not a good month for motorsport.

A lot of the riders have said kind things at this sad time. Kudos to dovi and Lorenzo for attending the funeral of thier bitter rival.
That paintjob looks awesome.
the racers may have been bitter rivals, but they still respect each other,

Well aware of that...but have you seen any of this years races??? Simoncelli put his hand out for a hand shake to Pedrosa after thier coming together at Le Man...he snubbed him. Lorenzo slated Simoncelli publicly at a press conference.
Hence my previous post.
