has any on this site got one that actually works and can be driven hard, or have they all been broken for spares, there seems to be alot in progress, but get broken before they hit the road, or were on track but now in the grave yard, discuss....................

i don't think the LET was an engineering led engine, i think it was a marketing led engine, consider this, the original xe was a cosworth project, as in they created the head.. for n/a use, and cosworth are pretty much the masters of getting some nasty standard bottom end & creating a 16v turbo monster from it, but the LET never seemed to get properly sorted out from the factory.. thus they cost an absolute fortune to make good & rebuild. the f28 box can cost you a kidney to put right too. people have spent 5 figure sums on making a proper LET nova, and then get offered 2 grand for it.. so they break them to get more money for them. and i think that is a pity.

mate spent about £6k on his let with f28 and atb, really smooth power delivery with being mapped on standalone..circa 420bhp.....drove hard, kept breaking...broke car and now tracks an evo6, he'l never go back to a LET, im currently rebuilding what was left of the LET into an xe for his mk2 escort.

Its not a track car but blue_pegs loon is/was a LET, and that got track style abuse EVERY time it was driven and its fine, the engine is now in his van lol

i've been reading the official cosworth biography.... they built a twincam head conversion for a 4 pot engine for chevy novas in the 70's... the blocks were awful... they only found this out after building the first few racing engines... one held together & produced fantastic hp, they didn't dare to take it apart to find out why......i think blue pegs engine is a bit like that.....
