Looking for 1.6 8v twin 40 setups, mainly interested in crankcase breather setup and ignition set up. Let's see how everyone else has done it. :)

No pics, but I have a straight pipe from the block breather up to the cam carrier. I use a GTE cam cover with the small breather pipe running into a previously enjoyed headlamp washer tank on the driver's front wing. Ignition - I have an old Delco dizzy bunging up the hole as I used to run a Micro Dynamics ignition using the standard hall effect jobby in the dizzy. I now use DTA management (as I'm on 45mm bottle throddies - not carbertuters) with a wasted spark setup via a Lucas coil pack.

In many many years of race use, never a problem from that breather setup. Remember -don't over-fill with oil - it'll blow it out.

think the cover I will be using is the c14se cam cover (the plastic one with the breather by the cam sprocket) and was just gonna run some pipe from the crank breather to that. And 1.3sr dizzy setup as using an ast2 cam. Just curious to see what everyone elses solutions were.

I think that's the same cam cover as the C16SE (someone will correct me I'm sure!) - though mine's alloy, not plastic. The large pipe on the rear of the cam cover goes to the block breather (which on mine, is a straight pipe - the chamber is removed). I have a windage tray in the sump too - that stops most of the oil going north. I'll have to take some pics when I'm at the workshop next.

I used crankcase breather etc off a 1.2 engine, and then the 1.2 cam cover.
Ignition wise I'm still on the E16SE dizzy and brain, runs OK, but would be no use for race/fine tuning as advance etc can't be adjusted as well as the SR dizzy.

Has anyone uprated their valve springs then?

im currently doing a 1.6 on twin carbs as well.

can the crank case and the cam cover breathers just go straight to a catch tank? like this one?

with the one above it has 2 pipe fittings, are they both inlet ie: cam and crank? or is one an outlet?

sorry if it seems a simple question to ask but not had much to do with catch tanks etc before.

also with the 1.4sr dizzy with the vacum advance on it, does that need a pipe connected to the carbs still?

The inlet manifold should have a take off on each to be connected to the vac advance like below
