Love the color mate, V6 IMO, nice car..
Right, first of all dont fcuk this one up, and dont do anything stupid with it.
Keep it simple.
Looks a good base to start with, decent colour. If you stick a gsi kit on then i think a dark grey would look nicer than body colour
And slabs? nah man, anything but those lol
slabs are atrocious wheels
slabs are atrocious wheels
Calling them wheels is quite complimentary.

I would personally keep the plastics and the top of the bumpers black and colour code the rest of the bumpers. Always seems to work well when i see corsas like that, especially in arden blue.
White slabs are the worse wheels and colour combo you could of picked lol IMO.

Is it white in colour? If so get a heat gun on it. Will clean up fine. My corsa was the same and a bit of heat bought it back a treat.

and the best bit, iv got 38mpg :D lol
Have you painted the black bits nick? Why not just tune the x16? or fit an x18xe1?
General Baxter
22-10-11, 08:45 PM
im not too clued up on this anymore tbh lol
x18xe1? that just go in, on the normal mounts, shafts ect:
what about the PAS pump, not to bothered about A/C but i want PAS still :P
X18 is Vec or Corsa C 1.8 16v isnt it??
The x18xe1 is out of astrag/vectra b. Standard 115bhp out of the box but lots of tuning potential. yes it's small block and Yes you can keep the p/s and probably the a/c too. Alex w pointed me in the right direction of a good wip on corsasport, will see if i can find it.
there's also a very nice s/c astra g 1.8 knocking about too.
General Baxter
22-10-11, 10:42 PM
but i can get 115bhp by throwing £100 at my 1.6 lol

Do that then?
General Baxter
22-10-11, 10:51 PM
problem is if i keep the 1.6, iv got to take the engine out to change that tensioner, so what ever happens, its got to come out lol
problem is if i keep the 1.6, iv got to take the engine out to change that tensioner, so what ever happens, its got to come out lol
Im sure you can get to the tensioner by taking the drivers side wheel, hub assembly & strut off/out way :S
General Baxter
22-10-11, 10:56 PM
iv got to ditch the engine mount, but to get to them bolts i have to remove the pas pump, and to get the them bolts i have to remove the A/C pump,
Nick just take the whole mount assy off, i've done a few, they're not that bad. Like mike says, just fit a powerbox?
General Baxter
22-10-11, 11:04 PM

You do have to "ditch that lot" lol. take the ac pump and ps pump off first.
General Baxter
22-10-11, 11:18 PM
i cant with out taking all the rads off the front, all this for a bloody £30 bearing lol
then all the aircon pipes get in the way lol
im ditching the aircon anyway, cfc letting go :p
anyway to ditch the pump?

The aircon is a right mission to remove mate, compressor is up behind glovebox & goes through the scuttle. Can remove PAS easily enough & swap it out for EPAS with a manual rack from an early Corsa.
General Baxter
22-10-11, 11:31 PM
i just want to remove it from the engine bay, and keep the PAS mike :)
The aircon you mean?
Its, well, not to easy really :/
just get the GRINDER out!
air con is easy to remove from just the bay. just remove the compressor, condensor, reciever/dryer and all pipework, then get a belt setup from a non A/C corsa and you're away.and if you can remove all those things without a grinder, you could sell them and make a few quid too.
and if you want to remove it from the interior too, just take the dash out, fit a heater box from a non A/C corsa, and Robert is your mothers brother
General Baxter

i would but iv now grown up, got a house of my own, bills to pay, and a low paid job :(
thats all im doing, i cant sell the pump, the clutch and pulley are ****ed, and making a racket lol
I'd still stick it on the bay, will be worth something to someone who uses those sh*tty halfords air con top up cans so now has a siezed compressor lol
condensor and reseiver/dryer wil certainly be worth money. should see you enough to pay for the non A/C pulley/belt set up too :thumb:
Oh, and I actually like the idea of GSI kit and white slabs lol (awaits natives)
There worth **** all mate, I had an entire Corsa B aircon setup on eBay for 99p start & it didnt even sell.
oh well, suppose it is only an egg lol if it were off a real car it might do better lol
If the "wining" sound is just when cold then it will probably be the SAI system. It pumps air into the exhaust manifold to warm up the cat. It runs when the engines cold and sounds like a Dyson.

23-10-11, 07:41 PM

nar adam, SAI is no longer on there still does it
you can feel its the a/c pulley and tensioner
with your ability with belts, taking the drive away from the ac should be a doddle
General Baxter
23-10-11, 08:31 PM
its not a simple as just ditching the pulley and putting a shorter belt on, lol
hello bud, did you follow the link i sent to remove the SAI system?

right then its engine time,
iv got just over £1k for an engine, a LET is just out of reach, + it will more likly need rebuilding so cost is out :(
any engine sugestions, the £1k must include (if large block) shafts mounts ect:
20XE on carbs? Not sure how much the mount kit etc is, but fitting cams into that price would be nice.
General Baxter
27-10-11, 10:37 PM
its got to be used everyday, + being a W plate, i doubt it will pass mot with carbs lol
ecotec.... maybe a 2.2... just to piss everyone off
General Baxter
27-10-11, 10:42 PM
i was thinking of just sticking some secondhand throttle bodys on it :)
Carbs can work well on a daily if set up properly, as long as you don't get addicted to the noise and the MOT will be for a 2.0 Corsa... which defaults onto a pre 93 test.
i was thinking of just sticking some secondhand throttle bodys on it :)

as you see john, i sold the omega as was not happy with the 25mpg i was getting, atleast with IBTB ill keep some form of mpg, against carbs lol

No it doesn't it defaults to a 2000 Corsa, you need proof of engine age to get away with the pre-cat test, so the engine has to be from a Vauxhall made before the 31st August 1992!
General Baxter
27-10-11, 10:51 PM

and id like to keep my low milage 1.6 :)
only problem is with fitting IBTB, is i cant be arsed to map it lol
stick a corsa vxr turbo on it with a decomp plate, and map it yourself lol
General Baxter
27-10-11, 10:55 PM
it needs to be a reliable daily lol
I may be thinking of the exhaust noise thing, which is a free pass for anything not fitted as standard iirc. As you say tested as whatever is older though, use an SEH block with an XE head in that case if there's no early XE's available, engine number will say it's pre cat.
General Baxter
27-10-11, 10:58 PM
lol, i have trouble finding IBTB's lol
If you've already got a decent 1.6 you want to keep then cams and headwork, might run on an AFPR, might need mapping (if the vauxhall unit can be) but with a good head you'll see decent power out of it.
scott.parker
27-10-11, 11:27 PM
Nick, you looked into going x20xe with TB's? as for TB's you should be able to find some, just NOT on ebay mate.
Other wise why not go for a late x25/x30 v6?
i'm surprised you haven't been up to the bmw breakers again.....
can you do the inlet powerbox thing on one this new??
a grand would get a powerbox, some reground cams, and a decent chimney, and it would be fairly quick.
General Baxter
29-10-11, 12:29 AM
anyone want to buy a corsa, this thing is ****ing stupid,
to do the tensioner, you have to remove the engine mount, to remove the engine mount you have to remove the rad and aircon rad, but you cant remove the rad, due to the pas bottle which you cant undo, as everything is on the wrong side,
its about to get the ****ING HAMMER

i need a small jubilie clip for the rad, but i cant go and fetch one lol
Id seriously fit a V6 TBH! Few tweaks and its an easy 180+bhp for about £200.
You would have to be weary if fitting a xe on carbs, im pretty sure 1995-1996 on the rules changed again, emissions wise.
General Baxter
29-10-11, 08:58 PM
im liking my 40mpg at the moment lol
i still reckon the 2.2 ecotec & a wr box.. they are the forgotten gm engine, and should fit the engine bay fairly well, with a reasonably stock look.
2.2 engines are ****.
As I already said to nick, He could of done this without removing half of that, Just remove the engine mount and maybe the AC pump which isnt that hard. I done this exact same thing on my car and had it done within a day :/
Edit: Engine wise, 1.8 out of the question? Good gain over a 1600 but maybe a bit too much work for you and your bodge-ness. If keeping the 1600, powerbox, cams, headwork, 4-2-1 manifold, decent system, ARP's, raised rev limit, Should be good for 140, maybe more.
2.2 engines are ****.
go on. explain. as in the vx220, they did pretty well...
they are what is considered to be a torque engine, not a rev engine, so by design, they have lazy power & decent low rev fuel economy and they are cheap as a cheap thing....

its allready bodged to **** lol
my funds have increased to about £1500 for an engine,
im thinking cheapo v6 for about £500 then a quick blow over with the paint with the rest to make it 'fresh' again
problem is with a v6 i dont want it to revvy so id like to keep the heavy fly wheel, keep the fuel consuption down, but id also like a 6 speed box, = more weight lol
General Baxter
06-11-11, 04:54 PM
theres a corsa v6 gsi on ebay at the moment, iv tempted to have a bidd, but its getting it back home, it looks like a right shed lol

keeping a content speed with a lightened fly wheel will use more fuel,
General Baxter
06-11-11, 08:12 PM
:d
im thinking LET now tho lol
becasue off boost it will use less fuel then a v6
but i doubt id find a looked after low milage let with a F28 and conversion kit for that kinda money
nick, there is a mk4 golf with a let on the bay..... its still quite cheap....
why not stick a vectra c dti in?? be the first, and then you get massive fuel mileage & some pretty decent performance...
:d
im thinking LET now tho lol

yeah, cos you're gonna drive it "off boost" lol

still not enough that would be about 130bhp lol ok sell it and buy something else :)
cut the crossmember out and fit a z30dth on a F18 (a proper isuzu engine with 190bhp), crossmember would touch the filter housing. other than that I can't see why she wouldnt fit.. looked into it with mine :P
is that the one they fit in the saab too?
baxter, why not stick the saab turbo motor in?? is the engine bay wide enough??
or why not a 1.7 isuzu td??
General Baxter

i dont know corsa's would a dt fit on my orginal engine mounts
i think the corsa d has a different chassis leg, like the nova. but seeing as they did a factory isuzu 1.7 non turbo D corsa b, and combo, then i reckon you'd find enough donor stuff to fit a cav td engine.
Stop encouraging him to ruin it with a dirty diesel lump everyone lol
i was hoping to bid him in the bollox for his 1600xe....
but 100bhp is just not enough now a days lol
Fail.
Mine nova 16xe was a 'rate laugh out on track!!
Stop encouraging him to ruin it with a dirty diesel lump everyone lol
Modern 1600 diesel engines have more power then an X16 anyway lol lol

Just get a 3.0 V6, 200hp straight away and most of the bits to fit it are already available ? and the engine is pretty cheap compared to LET's etc
Then find a crazy way to tune it, supercharger or something ?? lol

What more ya want
nick, colin smith is trying to sell a vectra v6.....
Yes Mowgli its the same lump as fitted to the 93 etc.

We're/me currently breaking one lol had a £1800 service at Vauxhall not so long ago aswell. New belts, tensioners, both manifolds, all fluids, new set of facelift wheels with tyres, new cat etc

but i know my conversion is a bodge, i dont know the bodge on the other car lol
Nick tbf, you wouldn't bodge if you had a bit more patience! I remember well the clutch cable disaster on the white 5 door, a little more patience and you'd probably still have it now!
& the brake bleeding & the gear linkage
& the brake bleeding & the gear linkage
All of which could have been executed well with a little more time lol

General Baxter

its a time issue, the conversion has to work first time in 1 weekend only, as i need the car for work, the clutch cable was i forgot to bend the firewall outlet,
i offered the 5 door cheap, like mega cheap no one wanted it, so i broke it, then every one moaned that i broke it lol

V6 Will be the best most horsepower for the cheapest and easiest fitting, unless anyone has a better suggestion ? lol
I think its all straight forward to fit, get mounts and stuff from david dixon, change shafts, put a couple strengthening plates in, jobs a good un.
The next best bet is the good ol' C20XE ? lol
General Baxter
08-11-11, 12:05 AM
problem with the v6 is the exhaust manifolds lol
LEWI007
08-11-11, 12:17 AM
Oh yeah i forgot about the exhausts lol
Maybe dixon has made something you can just buy off him and fit straight away.
I think for a decent worthwhile engine swap your just gonna have to be really fast and have a couple handy mates helping you with it if its going to be done and running for your next day at work lol

I'd use the bus instead of a punto

is this scrapped yet??
merris, it never will be unless something cleaner and cheap comes along,
some of us have done a lot of growing up in the past year, i for one, have my own house now, which takes up most of my time (and funds) i just cant to cutting roofs of cars anymore, as i wont be able to get to work = no house, simple :p
Nick, with all the best intentions in the world (please don't take this the wrong way either!) but i doubt a 16xe to xe/let/v6 conversion is going to be done in a weekend. If your x16xe is good, i'd spend some monies tuning it. Powerbox/cams/decent four branch and exhaust chip etc. or even turbo it?
V6 Will be the best most horsepower for the cheapest and easiest fitting, unless anyone has a better suggestion ? lol
20XE is the easiest power-per-fitment. V6 has too many niggles and not as much off the shelf stuff as the 2.0 16v.
Baxter, stop being a homo and whack a supercharger on it lol

True but i think its worth the extra carry for that extra 50HP.
Besides, how many XE Powered corsas and novas are on the road today.
General Baxter
08-11-11, 10:31 PM
the 16xe, has more leaks then a 20xe, its pissing out the crank seals, sounds like the bottom end has a knock, maybe something to do with the 6000+ rpm everywhere even when cold lol
General Baxter
08-11-11, 10:41 PM
i wonder if i can get 150bhp from a 1.6 16v for £1.5k including buying another engine and rebuilding it lol
With a turbo engine designed and built in your kitchen yes.
OR stick tb's onto the standard engine, give around 150 mark.
TBH, my 16xe with the powerbox was a decent engine, why not just replicate it!
Besides, how many XE Powered corsas and novas are on the road today.
Only a handful more than V6 ones? lol

just tune the 16xe fella my gsi was cammed head work manifold and inlet manifol nice remap the went verry well i would keep up with big block corsa all day and night well unless they were boosted
Nick, you & I know both know what'll happen to this as soon as you remove its engine.
nick, slap a big block ecotec in......cheaper, newer etcetera
ZNET to be different?
Go crazy and buy a Z22se? You can pick up a complete car for less than 800. New chain, tensioners etc almost 150BHP out of the box.

quick question what psi can a x16xe take i know a bogo std one can take 20psi in short burst but i dont know for how long,
i an hoping for 8-10 psi with a decomp plate
seeing as iv allready got a dta ecu and a 16xe loom lol
General Baxter
10-11-11, 02:03 PM
plans are
new passenger door, as theres a **** off crease in it, bloody old people
complete colour coded gsi kit
white cav slabs
lowered 60mm
sort the body work out,
then ether 2L 16v or 3L v6
right then new plans,
iv dug my dta loom out, just cant find the ecu lol, reinstalled all the software on my laptop,
im going to build another supercharged 1.6 16v on an engine stand, decomp plate only running about 10psi at full rpm, ill arp it everywhere i can, and see what happens, + being in the corsa ill have more room, there wont be a cooler on this one, the charger will be the inlet manifold, so no need for a cooler and boost pressure by pass valve, and i can run muilt rib belt :)

Loving this, definately the best route to go :p
Bby the next 20 pages you'll have gotten fed up with it and bodged it together then run a gazillion psi into it and blown the earth sideways into Jupiter.
