Dont be soo mean. I thikn that was a decent question for someone who hasn't seen a charlton engine. If its not possible then ok.

What do you mean as in the wrong way? Inlet and exhauts, gearbox or cylinders? Or all!! :o

Well I've seen a big block V8 in a baby Fiat ( called Taz - there's at least 2 of them) up at Pod and other places - the driver sits back near the rear seats so anything is possible I guess but there is no way one would fit as a "normal" conversion like a 2.0l let or wotever

theres no need 4 all the negative comments

anything is possible mate with enough time, effort and ???. i already spoke with a bloke i know who has done many conversions for motorsport (best i think was a 3l, v6, hillman imp!!) about putting a lotus carlton engine in the back of a nova

the only reply i got to that was buy the engine etc and we will build one!

There is the fact that the LC is a relatively rare car and something of a Holy Grail to a lot in the vaux tuning world. The idea of using one in a Nova would akin to using a rare copy of the bible for toilet paper....

If you want to know what i mean just post this thread up in MIG and you'll soon see

  but if one was ever to appear smashed up or something it would be an awesome project, if not just settle for the motor out of a 3000 gsi and add a few "tweaks" here and there

convert it 2 RWD sorted minus the bulk head

Stuart

its already rwd, and i recon the engine and gbox will be about the same length as the nova chassis lol

i was talking bout converting the nova 2 RWD and there would be no need 4 a prop just conect the gear box to the diff

A friend of mine was offered a Lotus Carlton Engine & Gearbox for his Calibra Turbo, after liasing with a few vauxhall tuners, he decided to let it slip by, it would of cost him approx. 10k for the conversion, the engine would have to be mounted in the Rear, plus the cost of upgrading suspension, chassis, brakes, practically everything etc. in total would probably have cost well over ?25k.

In conclusion.....

......Anything is possible.....&

......Everything has a price !

Hey, you could always fit Lotus Carlton Bumpers & Vents on your Nova though !

why not stick the carlton lump on the back seat? Can be done with a lot of time and money.
Like the RS Turbo Pug 106 in Redline

lol it would very much so, traction loss would be pretty major tho, but imagine without that, it would be shockingly fast!

u would have 2 have big bolox 2 drive it

Snowface

Not if u have the engine in the back and put it Rwd or even 4wd.

locky
12-07-03, 05:50 PM
I was thinking the same thing! 4wd u got more traction on all 4 wheels!
Rear wheel drive u got all th power goin 2 the rear (obv) but the weight is at the front so it might counter balance itself!

I'm now beginning to try and imagine what that'd look like, tbh I actaully think it'd look very very good, I've seen LC replica bumpers for things like Cavaliers and Fiesta MK3's which don't look half bad, I reckon one on a Nova would suit the chunky boxy shape, and as for those LC vents - Mmm Mmmm Mmmmmmmm :D

So who's gonna be the first to do it then?

Hey JULES !!!

It has been done before, but the Nova was a Saloon.
The front end looked meaty though, personally I'm for the
subtle & original look (big up Krobinson, Lee Haslam!!!)

But if bodykit is your thing, then it's defo better option
than Kingdom, Abyss, Novadose & other Jap inspired poop !

The Bonnet Vents are huge & would probably look silly !
Will try & find some pics of that Carlton kitted Nova

Jules
15-08-03, 03:10 PM
Me? Like bodykits? You must be mad!!!!

I go for the Nick Caro, _Ben_, Keith Robinson, Brian modded one's anyday of the week.

I just think the Standard LC bumper if chopped correctly (Not overhanging the arches) would look good on a Nova hatch, I've seen the red saloon one and it looks good, but I think on a hatch with a suitably matched rear bumper it'd look OK.
And I know the LC vents are bigger than most but they are still smaller than Cossie vents and I've seen them on a Nova before and although they looked gash they didn't look overly big.

Anyway, just my opinion.

And I had the grey wheels a looooong time ago (16" Softstars that used to be on Malc for Redline's Nova)

Jules

Yeah I'm at Trax this year on the PCC stand I think, It looks OK in the photo but the nasty red oxide stuff is starting to appear round the bottom of the doors which annoys me
I may get it sorted some time over the winter if I have the cash to spare!?!

Anyway Keith* you bOOn, you know I'm going to Trax cos I'm bringing you that SR tailgate sticker thing!!! You were meant to remind me to bring it, it looks like I'm reminding you to remind me!!!

*Well at least I think it was you Keith - If not then I apoligise!!!
