It was a complete steal on e-bay at £436!! 48k genuine on the clock with all the old MOTs to prove it and the original dealer stickers and plates on it!! so i got my dad to take me down to somerset on the sunday after winning it and promptly drove it back up the M5, home to Wolverhampton with it managing a nice steady 80 (didnt wanna give it to much as wasnt sure of the last good service :d)
so it was took to work, put on the ramps and soon gave an oil and filter... it is a fantastic shell with the front jacking points immaculate along with usual spots of battery tray, top front strut mounts, wings all rust free!! All thats required body-wise is the obvious scrape down the nearside that has to be sorted, but i am gonna get a new n/s door anyway, the next shots will show (if you look closely) that the door has been filled and the bottom of the nsf wing. This was revealed once the body mouldings for the n/s was removed.
So for 22 years old... it needs a n/s/f wing, n/s door and the rear 1/4 blowing in.... i will be under-sealing soon to preserve it before the winter... (will put photo's on soon) but i think i have had a complete bargain personally....

Nights in, i found myself on here and e-bay... i've since purchased some SR alloys..

Makes the world of difference already... i have also got a GSi steering wheel (which has been fitted) and GSi seats to go in once cleaned, SR clocks, GTE front and rear bumpers in white that need spraying and tailgate with spoiler too to go on, Jamex front coilovers and its gotta have a new exhaust once it has been undersealed... Its a work in progress that will take time but i think its a cracking start....
Let me know what you think lads....:thumb:

UPDATE COMING SOON!!! :thumb:
Nice. needs the correct grille though imho. The early saloon one doesn't suit it. :)
That looks good and if youre happy with the price you gave then its certainly a bargain, it is by some of the prices other novas seem to be fetching, so well done!
I hope youre keeping the oe dealer plates and such, there is a member on here with the same surname as the dealer sticker in the back window says aswell lol

like you say... it was a real bargain n since i set the carb up properly and fitted a new vac advance (thanks to brown-bear off here) it runs like a dream!

as with all projects and old cars you can easily unearth more work... work creates work as they say n this one is no different as when stripping i found a hole in the nearside rear arch.... resident welder Si 'mojah' mountford was on hand to cut it out and weld up..... there was a slight crack in the floorpan too under the drivers seat as the next pics show... that was took care of too....

Will update soon... A lot done since!
Hydey36
15-07-12, 08:31 PM
So..... its about time this was updated as done loads since... not long after the undersealing was done, i sourced some GSI seats... these was used for a while but had a change of heart after a bit as the dash and carpets are grey and door cappings, so with the seats being black... they didn't really go together... have now got some very very clean GTE seats and door cards that really suit... also had a GSI steering wheel which have now changed to SR horn centre so badge is periodically correct...
Have also lowered it on jamex coilovers front, and koni shocks/springs rear.... a 60mm drop which i think is just right... a nice shot of it here during the bad snow of february where it handled like a dream and never got stuck once!!

15-07-12, 09:00 PM
the next plan of attack was some engine work as unsure of the service history when i brought it... It had 47k on it which i was sure about it, as i had every MOT... I also have some odd servicing receipts but what i wasn't sure about was the last time it had a cam belt change... (Also, every car i have has a full service)... and as the cam carrier and head gasket were leaking oil i thought the head may as well come off and have a skim as once the cam belt's off i am half way there right? New water pump was fitted too and a brand new manifold-back exhaust fitted as the old one was shagged (as can be seen on the undersealing pics) brand new bosal front and middle and stainless steel back box with 3" inwardly rolled tailpipe...

Also have now fitted SR clocks with working rev counter and polished metal cam cover and oil cap.... All nice touches to the project

Then with the Nova running sweet... i just needed to be able to stop the thing... Back brakes are great but the way things was, they was doin more than the fronts!! So i was thinking of ways to improve the stoppers.... all it had at the minute was the standard 'roll pin' calipers and solid discs (which were knackered anyway). As corsa b's are just a nova 'in disguise' i was lookin how to incorporate that into it as the ATE/Delphi setup is good. And i was rather picky about what sizes was required as i want to keep my SR 14'' wheels but i only wanted vauxhall kit... the next pics show how my wheels sat on my mates corsa b sport 1.6 16 valve....
http://s1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee376/hydey36/?action=view¤t=nova7.jpg
http://s1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee376/hydey36/?action=view¤t=nova17.jpg
They did fit but they were very very very close to catching... So close that i wouldn't have felt comfortable fitting that set up with my SR's to my nova through fear of them catching... The discs on the corsa sport were 256mm x 20mm.... but i later checked through discs kits on vauxhall EPC and found that corsa X12XE variants (Around 2000 model year) and other corsa b specs used 236mm x 20mm discs... the same vented disc sizes that were used on Nova GTE/GSI but without the crap caliper setup... Ebay was searched and a local guy had the correct calipers and carriers for £20... and a tin of black hammerite was brought on the way home... Pics of the before and after shots:
