Out of interest how much did the Martin Bowyer engine set you back?

The 1600 cost me £5800. I've got a x14xe now, tht was 8k. Mindblowing tho! Go on youtube and put jamie hales in, and ull see me incar doing an escos and a mk2 escort in a 7mile stage! Hahaha

Still have mine. 1599.97cc, 190hp, on 45mm bodies with DTA management. Solid lifters, and don't expect rally car reliability. At that level, it's an unreliable pig if ignored, and requires regular rebuilds. About 8-10 race hours between refreshes. That could be extended a little by going dry sump, probably to 10-12 race hours.
A Rally engine should be tip top for 24-36 competitive hours. A road engine should produce it's "factory" power for 20-40K miles.

When I built mine, one of a similar spec from Swindon would have been in the 10K region less management.

Yep tht is a real 1 mate, it woz full grp n spec, its power 2weight putting to cars like tht 2geva.

I've neva sin the point in dry sump, it costs less 2have the crank crossdrilled and tuftrided, a proper set of steel rods and a set of gud bolts, then add to tht a oil recirculation system and its bombproof. I rev mine 2 9200 alday long wiv no probs. And I did 15 rallies lastyear on tht, and its just gone in for a top and tail 2wks ago. If thr built proper 2start wiv thy will last wiv regular oil changes
