i am trying to access & edit a .rpt file.

can anyone point me towards a decent freeware type like program thing that won't attempt to fill my pc with viruses or simply annoy the hell out of me..

thankyou

Try the demo from here
http://www.sap.com/solutions/sap-crystal-solutions/query-reporting-analysis/sapcrystalviewer/index.epx

They make the program that creates RPT files :)

425mb and a registration that makes an indiana jones adventure look like a walk in the park.......my poor little work broadband can't cope with it...

get whoever sent the RPT to send you a PDF instead then.

if only it was that easy stu. the rpt file is an invoice template that needs a few alterations.. but the accounts program provider seems to think we should pay an enormous amount of coin to have it done..

Have you tried opening it in any other program, maybe excel.

my pc doesn't like it. it is a simple template. but the pooter won't open it in a format i can read.

You either need to hand over the cash to get the 'right' software or ask the supplier to send it as a word template or an editable PDF.

and that is what i was afraid of.

Is this a report you requested them to amend for you originally? Or one they've pushed out to you and told you to use?

Looks like you need some form of Crystal Report editing software (as above, from SAP), or some websites seem to imply you can fudge through it using a visual basic editor with crystal plugin. Both would cost money for corporate use though, even those listed as free/share ware usually have caveats for business users requiring payment :(

my predecessor organised this accounts/loads package...the invoice template they sent is the .rpt file. it should put load qty & order no. on the invoice, it does not.
even if i freeze the template & put the default on, it doesn't have the right info. it did before the upgrade we had to have.......
