So for a few weeks my car has been slow to start, turns over fine but takes about 3 attempts before it fires up. Last night I changed spark plugs. went to start it up today and it just turns over. Did a few checks, was getting voltage at pump but only about 10volts. the earth for the pump was a bit corroded and loose. Took the pump out of the tank and put 12volts across it from the battery and it just sparks when I touch the live wire onto the battery, it makes no noise so i guess its goosed.

Thing is the pump hasn't done many miles, so could a loose earth/low fuel level/constant cranking have killed it? and could an almost dead pump be the reason my car wouldnt start first time?

I'm going round the scrappies tomorrow to try and find a pump, think the last one came out a mk3 astra.
