... as I'm trading our KA in for a 51 plate focus 1.8lx Zetec which had a cambelt change 10000 miles ago.

Anything I should worry about, besides being a blue badge motor lol

Rear end of sill rot, its a nice water trap.

Checked the rear end and it's really solid tbh, I'm use to checking Novas so this thing is spot on, oh and I got the car btw in for a 12 month Mot free of charge and it passed with only a advisory on one tyre.

Check breather pipes too, they perish quite quickly, there is a hard to get to one under/inside the inlet that can give ruff idle when spilt. Git of a job to change if you have anything bigger that a kids hand.

I did a little research tbh and as long as it wasn't the 1.6 all was good lol

Even the aircon works so the missus is happy lol

Tbh I drove the car and it's full service history to 90000 with a cambelt change at 85000 and recently had a new backbox and service, plug change, coilpack, ht leads all replaced and yes it's a straight swap lol

They rust as bad as Novas. Bottoms of doors espcially!

Engines are bullit proof though.

No rust or rot on the doors either Mike ;) Sadly it looks like I'm buying a more door lol

Great cars save for some superficial rust.

King of that market sector for a reason!

I've had a 2001 1.8 zetec for almost three years, all i've done apart from usual servicing is pads, discs, shoes, and one front/one rear wheel bearing. Got its first advisory on the MOT last month for worn bushes at rear. Good solid cars if a little thirsty!

My oldest mate works for lex leasing & has always enjoyed putting fleets of focuses out, as he has had the least trouble from them compared to any of the other brands... Its remarkable that ford can make such good cars yet be in such an awful financial position.. And they also sell fiesta & focus in the states.
