So ive just bought a 1.6 8 valve engine converted by courtenay sport to a turbo. I've not taken the engine apart yet but I assume the previous owner has had problems. So basically after a quick look can understand what's going on but there's a few parts damaged which will need replacing and such. The reason for the post though is to basically find as much information I can get, I will be contacting courtenay aswell but any help with information or any pictures of the car it was in and engine bay would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will have fun trying to contact courtenay on the subject as they denied all knowlidge when i emailed them, but its worth a try, as said put some pics up, theres a few people on here that know their stuff when it comes to 1600 turbos.

TBH I would as well if I'd built a turbo with a pressure switch to put it onto a cold start map lol

I previously owened this nova before the people whom you purchased it from.

I wanted to buy it back but they made such a mess of it i couldnt justify spending the money on it.

I have many pics i will try uploading some.
Also got some printouts somwhere when i had a tuning day at santa pod.

This was a nova built by rj automotives, also have the magazine feature at home

First of all thanks for the replies! I wasnt expecting much. Thanks nutty nova for the pictures of the car, I will have the engine returned to its former glory in my corsa B ill start a project log i think if i have time, and thanks to craig green too, im sure i may get in touch with you in the future. As for contacting courtenay, my brother spoke to them this week and they will be supplying us with a few bits. The man on the phone was very surprised to hear about the engine, we know it was converted in 2002 and he seemed to think it was one of the last ones they did! But all in all. VERY EXCITED!

Sorry to drag up old posts!.

I remember this car pretty well, it was owned buy my best friend Shaun Major from Spalding he purchased it as a standard mint gsi from Norfolk for £4500 mileage at the time was late 30k. Cracking car bloody quick and minty mint.

After about 6 months it was taken to local body shop John Burdall which Shaun spent approx £1800 on subtle body mods and a full respray in mint white. ( mods -- smooth tail gate, scooby bonnet scoop and rear wing fitted. ) Car was lowered and 16" speedline`s got fitted, looked funkin fantastic.

Shortly after he ran into engine problems so £900 later a fully rebuilt 1.6 and boy did it shift.

Cracking car shame it got that stupid bodykit fitted by later owners
